In my opinion, Parade, Purple Rain, and Lovesexy are all great ALBUMS with some sort of cohesive thread. To be the best album, I think it has to be a full package (Song Ordering, Flow, Artwork, Originality, etc.)...I look at 1999 and Sign Of The Times as two albums with a bunch of cool songs on them...
If we are working towards the best "ALBUM", I'll have to get rid of 1999. I feel it's not as creative or original as Sign Of The Times. ***I'm noticing that so many people want Purple Rain off because of it's popularity but I hope they think about the fact that with only 9 songs on it and how songs work into each other (Computer Blue/Darling Nikki, I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star) it is very worthy of taking the cake reguardless of its sales. ***Does anyone else notice that your favorite albums of all time are ones you don't listen to much? I've noticed that my favorites are hardly ever listened to because I really need to be in the mood for them. | |
