P's not really doing much to promote the new album!

Yes, I have considered that he's doing his thing in London (mad damn English). But he could be doing some other things to continue the promotion of his album. Music videos, talk shows, music videos, publicity stunts...and oh yeah, music videos. nod

Seriously, that "Guitar" video was a bit of a disservice, especially since it can't be seen on any music channel. But I would love to see more of Prince in the media (maybe after this UK tour). This is one of the best albums he's done in a while and it deserves more attention. nod

About 4 million people have it already. And he's gotten paid. What's to promote?

I agree that he is not. I really like this album...truely I do.
Most of the reviews I have read are 3 1/2 outta 4. Not bad! I wanted to see him go on Leno or Letterman or hell, even another summer concert at GMA would have made me happy.

But he hates doing interviews, and really, he's plain awful at them. His interviews can sometimes be painful to watch.

He's doing a lot of good and different promotion for this, though. He did a press conference to announce the album; the series of London concerts sold out in minutes, he's gotten tremendous press coverage for them, and the newspaper deal giveaway was massively reported; he did a commercial for a major cell phone carrier that was broadcast a lot and was featured in print ads; not to mention the Hamptons concert and coverage, etc.

people just dont get it - he isnt interested in promoting an album.. he's interested in promoting tours by using albums as a promotional tools/gimmicks. the album as we know it is dead, touring is where the money is.

It wasn't "given" to them. They had to buy the paper. And seeing as that the paper sold tons more copies than it normally did, I'm willing to guess that his CD in it was a huge factor. I am also willing to guess that one of the reasons people buy The Mail is for the free music that is inside.

And now that it's in 4 million peoples hands...what more promotion is there really to do? When all is said and done in the UK, I am willing to bet that over 6 million people will have a copy of the album.

I already bought it so he doesn't have to promote it to me.

But it sure would be fun to see him all over TV and hear him all over the radio, like in the old days!

Your really are just pulling figures out of your arse here! nuts Less than 3 million have gone out in the UK (all essentially giveaways) - so where do you get the 4th million from? Because you can be damn sure that over a million copies have NOT been brought worldwide as yet. disbelief

Also factory in that between at least 1-2 million copies are know occupying landfills and it is obvious that there are no-where-near 4 million copies in 'peoples hands'. (If you really believe that the 2.8+ million who brought the paper all kept and listened to it, then you are seriously deluded)

And the statement "When all is said and done in the UK, I am willing to bet that over 6 million people will have a copy of the album" really is one of the most baseless statements i've ever heard. What on earth makes you belive that load of dribble??? How is 21 shows in the UK (where the album was given away and where it can't even be purchased in stores) going to in any way drive the rest of the world to purchase 3 million copies?? wacky

Dream on...

Does he ever promote his new albums?

Apart from Diamonds & Pearls when he needed the money I think Prince forgets projects and moves on very quickly once they are done and released.

It seems Prince is already happy being a marketing revolutionary instead of a musical revolutionary...

I still think ´The one u wanna c´ has lots of commercial chances, if well promoted
