Do you think Prince hurt himself by not playing the Hollywood Game and now it's Too late?

In your opinion has Prince ruined his career by not being nice or forthcoming in interviews, being evasive and lying, ignoring fans requests, writing Slave on his face and being downright Stubborn and Demanding that it's his way or no way? Is there no way he can Ever be on the A-list again?

I think that Prince's lack of networking in Hollywood doesn't matter until he has a party, like the one last week in NY when there really weren't that many high powered celebrities who came out.

Hollywood is a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" kind of deal. Big stars don't show up for Prince's parties because he doesn't show up at theirs. Why should they show up at his media events when he doesn't show up at theirs?

I think that Prince can get back on the "A" list, if he's willing to play the game. But the question is, will he be willing or interested in playing the Hollywood game question

first&foremost He is a "POP Artist" who has had a Helluva Major Impact so there will always be a eye on him.as long as Sampling,Looping are what are being Pushed for top 40 Spins Prince will always collect on Publishing,Covers,etc..as far as Being in the "IN" Crowd? it doesn't even matter.just like the case with Michael Jackson.Peeps who dig them Both such as myself or one or the other ain't even thinking About them getting Media or Commerical Success again.different era&different set of Rules.I might not be crazy with all the Directions Prince is doing with His Music, but going in on His Own is a Very Smart Move.I Mean the Guy has a Base that will always Support whatever He does.I Mean it would be cool for Him to Be Blowing up on the Charts just for me Seeing Michael Jackson&other Artists I grew up on Rolling High but if they gotta be subjected to what goes for the "IN" thing in terms of playing 2nd-fiddle on your Albums with Chumps on the Control Board who don't have a Clue to Producing than it ain't worth it.case&Point: from a few Reliable Sources I got Michael Jackson basically just does His Tracks&doesn't even feel anything when He is working with these Cats.Meaning they can't challenge Him like Quincy Jones could&more often than not over the past few Albums You Can hear that IMHO.Prince plays the "GAME" when He has to but He knows as far as having Multi-Platinum Selling Albums&Hits all over the place are a thing of the past.He seems cool with that aspect of His Career behind Him.I Mean I think the Guy would Love to Blow up again but He ain't trying hard at it.it's no Biggie.

No.

Prince is an independent artist now and his sales figures are impressive for an 'indie' artist.

Prince could never have released something as challenging and complex as 'The Rainbow Children' on a major label.

I don't know why people can't just accept Prince as a legendary, independent figure and get on with it.

As the man has said 'this is not 1984'.

I think Prince is respected for the way he has worked recently! How many Rap records do you hear that go on about contracts taking all the money and about industry created bands?

I believe that Prince still has the admiration of most of the major artists. How many other artists have gone it alone and are now making more money from an album than before? Prince has non of the expectations that has cast a shadow on the likes of MJ who still craves to be "King of POP" but is now laughed at rather than respected?

Prince has shown his independance and although not in the forfront of the current Music scene I believe that most of the critics and artists out there respect what he is now doing rather than thinking about the farce with Slave etc...

Respect to Prince!

If Prince released the right record, at the right time, he'd be back on the radio everyday. Unfortunately he isn't what the record buying public want to hear at the moment. They want something a little more edgy.
Doesn't bother me though, as long as I like it, I don't care if it's Number 1.

Bzzztt. Monopolies the likes of CLEAR CHANNEL are keeping people like Prince (independent recording artists) off of mainstream radio where newer music is involved. Of course this doesn't take into account the fact that people his age rarely get airplay on pop radio with new music anyway. It has nothing to do with releasing something edgy.

I seriously hope he can somewhat get back some of the Former Glory and win the Big Wig Names again that way he will win back his place at the top and be able to make another movie if he wants to and get the Awards he so rightfully Deserves. But he may not really care about this stuff anymore. It may be Passe for him now.

=== I think so. Sad to say it, but in the entertainment industry u must socialize with the fakes in hollywood. i always admired prince 4 NOT taking to this feat. he's BETTER than them anyway, imo. he NOT ONLY would have needed to do many more interviews, but what he did with warners will always be a detriment 2 him. i admire him 4 this too, btw. as far as being demanding, wanting his own way-yes, another slap in his face. barbra streisand was and still is very demanding, and is a perfectionist like prince, hard as hell to work with...she always gets snubbed at the oscars, and she DESERVED to win many times, imho, but the bigwigs there had it against her 4 her controlling ways, and attitude. needless to say, this follows her, as does prince, but she dont care either. she NEVER gave in just to please the brass. she knows she's good, very talented, and thats all that matters to her. PEOPLE know shes GOOD! same with prince. no proof needed. no sucking asses!! i always admired this woman as well! as far as lying to the press etc. THEY ALL do it 4 the most part. thats not relevant. pleasing fans are also not really the biggest priority in these superstars lives. they do as THEY WANT. again prince on the A LIST? who's A LIST is that? he's on mine! i'm proud of what he does, and the popularity he has NOW, is fine with ME. (fine with him) he's getting older and BETTER not younger and crazier/wilder. NO, dont look for prince on the top 20 any more, please! this is NOT 1984 4 GODS sake!
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses
