"Britain's Got Talent" winner Paul Potts resisted strong pressure to take top spot in the album charts for a third week running, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.

Potts, from Port Talbot in Wales, shot to fame after he auditioned for and won Simon Cowell's hit TV show with a rousing rendition of "Nessun Dorma".

Potts's debut album "One Chance" pipped a couple of new entries for the top slot, with Scottish singer Amy MacDonald's debut album "This is The Life" entering at two and singer Newton Faulkner's "Hand Built by Robots" coming in at three.

Innovative funk artist Prince, who has sold 80 million albums worldwide, was a third new entry in the top 10 at six with "Ultimate".

There was no change at the top of the singles chart with American producer and rapper Timbaland's collaboration with U.S. singer Keri Hilson and New York rapper D.O.E., "The Way I Are", securing the number one spot for a second successive week.

London singer-songwriter Kate Nash was steady at number two with "Foundations", while the Black Eyed Peas' Fergie moved up one to three with "Big Girls Don't Cry", as former number one Rihanna's "Umbrella" dropped one to four.

Swedish pop singer Robyn's dance track "With Every Heartbeat" -- featuring Kleerup -- was the only new entry in the top 10 singles chart, entering at five, while Enrique Iglesias's "Do You Know" falling one to six.

Not content with a strong showing in the album charts, Faulkner's single "Dream Catch Me" rose nine places to seven as London rock band The Hoosiers' "Worried About Ray" fell two to eight.

Dance act Groove Armada with "Song 4 Mutya" was another faller, slipping one to nine, while Plain White T's rounded up the top 10 with "Hey There Delilah" after a climb of 16 places.

Very cool. I guess the record stores were talking out of their ass when they threatened not to stock his albums.

If I were Prince I'd be a little pissed off.

You release a brand new album all on your own and a greatest hits compliation made years ago by the record company you hate is the one that sells.

Well, that's nothing new. His greatest hits compilations always do well when he's touring. I don't think he would be that bothered by it. He still gets royalties from the sales, even if it's not as much as he would with his NPG releases. Besides, he probably made more money from his deal with the Daily Mail than he would have had it just been sold in stores regularly.

Planet Earth was never sold in store in the U.K. the only way you could get the album in the UK was if you bought a copy of the sunday mail on July 15th, and 2.8 Million people did.

It's great. So even though Prince doesn't sell his new album at all in the U.K. he still has a top 10 album!!! Classic!! lol.

This was exactly why Prince did the Mail On Sunday release - it's all about marketing.

FACT = Prince's last album 3121 only sold about 80,000 copies in the UK

FACT = Being paid upfront by MOS to covermount PE earned Prince more money then he would have got from sales of PE in record stores (in the UK)

FACT = The strategy caused a massive buzz and generated more press coverage then Prince has had in years.

FACT = This in turn promotes the 21 Nights in London tour (the REAL place he earns his money rather than album sales)

FACT = If the buzz from the concerts, press coverage and MOS covermount means that some of Prince's back catalogue sells then that's all the better (yet more royalties)
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
