i guess this may depend on your age, but 1999/little red corvette were the triggers, videos and all. everything purple rain was the hook, line and sinker. as far as good and bad times, i can associate every album with what was going on in my life right on up thru the emancipation album. i guess u could say trc and ona have pulled me back in for good.

Little Red Corvette is the song that got me hooked into Prince. I really can't answer the other questions.

Hearing "Little Red Corvette" on the radio and then seeing the videos for "1999" and "Little Red Corvette" on MTV. With two songs like that, as funky as he was, I had to get more of his music soon!! I wore that album out!!

Good times: 1999 & Purple Rain, then getting Controversy back to For You, and then Around the World to Lovesexy

Bad times: the return of Spooky Electric with his whole "mutha-f***in" cussing phase and the two NPG albums, and then NPS was a huge letdown for us L4OA types

Good times again: his live performances during 2001 & 2002, the NPGMC releases, and The Rainbow Children album; though i'm a bit wary of his fixation on race [to live is Christ, no matter the race]

I think I was around 7 or 8 when I first heard this song. Then the Little Red Corvette video was the sinker...I was hooked!

when i bought the Hits/b*sides 3 yrs ago 2 get in2 him & heard Gett Off...that was IT!

Phase One: 1999/Little Red Corvette Double A Side that came out in about 1984. My Dad had that played full volume one night, and that was me hooked. For better or worse.

Phase Two: After NPS and Rave, thinking he'd never return to the peaks of previous work, only to hear the end of Rainbow Children. Family Name, Everlasting Now and then Last December. BANG!! As Micheal Corleone says in Godfather 3 "Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back IN"

1999 got me "hooked". I had other singles by him but 1999 had me thinking he was doing all those voices when I first heard it on the radio, and that was the beginning of the end.
