Arguably Come is the closest or definate NJS album for Prince. Can anoyone think of any songs that are especially New Jack style?

the entire exodus album has a distinctly new jack swing-ish tone, though it's more new jack swing-tinged funk.

though prince gets a lot of shit for this period, to his credit he often brought his own style and a bit of originality when he co-opted new jack swing and hip hop. usually bits of other genres were mixed in brilliantly, like sacrifice of victor (gospel) and gett off (hard funk) and love 2 the 9s (jazz), producing stuff that didnt really sound like any of the younger contemporaries he was being influenced by. of course there was stuff like the flow and the continental which was hot garbage, and by the time emancipation rolled around he was just churning out generic soulless shit that boyz II men would have rejected as b-side material (not to mention new jack swing being already dated by late 1996 anyway)

I can only think of Acknowledge Me as a real New Jack kinda song.

It's like Teddy Riley knew just when to come into my paisley music world to keep me occupied until Prince got his shit together (he finally did with the Symbol 92' & Gold Experience, 95'). I'm not sure what motivated the originator to start this convo string since I find no correlation between Prince and New jack Swing, which are two sounds that shaped my musical past.
