Why so many ppl over here hate Jughead? I think it´s a great funky song. I´ve read several threads where quite a lot of ppl labeled it as one of Prince worst songs. I don´t know why. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I hate it. Not only D&P worst track, but also one of his worst of all time. silly lyrics, annoying Tony M rap and clumsy hip-hop production. I usually skip it. I wonder what NWA or Public Enemy would say about this track [Edited 8/6/07 11:42am]

prince's attempts to be down with early 90s hip hop were never more embarassing. tony m at his obnoxious worst; it feels like having an angry drunk yell at you for 3 minutes. the call & response bit with rosie and "GETTIN BIZZY G, KICKIN THE JUGHEAD!" makes me want to kill myself

people also seem to be unaware that the musical rhythmic vocal synth structure in "Jughead" is very much the same mechanics as "Housequake". I like Jughead, it is funky , I'd listen to it over Strollin. It fits with Horny Pony and Push.
People also hate Jughead's cousin "Life of the Party", but I don't. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

You could take Tony M out of every track he was featured on back then and he would not be missed!

Is there aany way to program ure streo to automatically skip the song whenever the CD is in there? "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."

I actually like the song.
I thought Tony M. was good on most of the P records. Problem is when they tried to do things live with him all he did was scream like a mad man and kill what were some pretty cool P songs. Irv

DAMMIT, Why did it have to be an MJ fan that finally agreed with me about
this song???!!! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

yeah....prince should just stay away from rap...take one listen to Mr. Goodnight and you can just feel the presence of Tony M.

Never favored it. I always considered it to be a solo Tony M thing Prince just tacked onto D&P. Prince's rapping here makes me throw up in my mouth almost everytime I hear it. It's one DREADFUL track! Check me out and add me on:

he should play it at the 02 arena, itd crack all the princefams up. in fact, why not a bitchin' jughead/courtin' time/right the wrong/arms of orion/graffiti bridge medley. like a "my worst songs ever" type of thing. i'd put lolita in there too, but hes already playing that shit every show anyway [Edited 8/6/07 14:58pm]

I would rather suck cement out of Tony M's ass with a straw than listen to Jughead. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Because it's a shit song form a very average album.
Unfortunately as soon as Prince released D&P he became a trend follower not a trend setter. I do like most of the album but I still have the opinion that he made a commercial album cuz he was desperate for a hit and need the money.

I don't see how this made the album and Horny Pony did not. Tsk Tsk. Another case of "Prince needs an editor".
Oh well! It serves a purpose - you can put up any other song against it to defend it: Example, "Dude, 'Lolita' blows, but it's not as bad as 'Jughead'"

its one of the many somgs when it comes out you say HEY WOW this is some good music ...and about 5 years later you say to yourself man i was really retarted back then ...jughead is one of those ....im sure even Prince wishes he could get rid of this song. Bounce party y'all

Still going strong as the universally hated song I see?
Well, I certainly enjoy this little ditty - indeed it's got the rhythm of 'Housequake', and on top of that some very funny quirky rapping by everybody in the band. It probably takes a wicked sense of humour, and tongue-in-cheek, but this is rap at its most enjoyable. By the way, I've always loved Tony M's addition to Prince music. I don't have any preconceived ideas about what hip-hop should or should not sound like.

Because it's a corny crappy song. It doesn't take much to wonder why people don't like it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
