Diamonds And Pearls - Sho Yo Love!

I've been listening to this album all morning music

I know it gets trashed by quite a few here as being a commercial sellout but so fucking what flipped off
It's still wicked, Willing And Able's groove is just slick. Good god, don't get me started on Gett Off. Does anyone remember when radio was playing this when it hadn't blown up and everyone was saying 'what the fuck?!' and loving it. Yeah, now that's what I'm talking about. This album maybe commercial but that's because the vast majority of people loved its sound from the very beginning. The world then just went crazy with that sexy mid paced groove, Cream and the rest is history...

Perhaps I've got fond memories because this was the record that accompanied my first concert, I'm not sure. But what's definite, is that Prince got it perfect on this record. Commercially speaking anyway, one of my favourites. And for the record, I'm a Controversy, 1999, Sign O The Times and Lovesexy man through and through!

Just to really nail this home, I even like Jughead AND the pass the peas rapping on Push is off that hook! Okay, I was 13 at the time but I still enjoy them both for what they're worth.

Diamonds And Pearls is such a Great album. The title track, Cream, Money Doesn't Matter and Live for Love my God what great tunes and the rest of the hits Insatiable ,my goodness ,what a beautiful love song. The videos are absolutely great and Prince never looked sexier.

Strollin' = Great summer song.

I loved to rent roller skates with my girl and skate around the lake (beach - Florida) , buy a dirty magazine and laugh behind it while we eat icecream.

Wonder where I got that idea from? She don't know that though...

oh and the video box thing in insatiable. whew! fun times!

One of my 3 fave Prince albums. If i take out Push and add Horny Pony, it's a perfect album to me.

I love this album! There are definitely a few chunks of shit scattered on it, but all is forgiven. I'm no Christian, but when I pump up "Thunder," it's a religious fucking experience all right! Insatiable's my name when it comes to Prince...
"Push" sucks, but I leave it on just to hear Prince say, "Naw, man - you don't want me on the mike!" Beautiful.

Yeah, "scoopin' up the kiddies like a circus clown"

was a pretty cool line.

TRON

Agreed. It's awesome. I think it's become a trend around here to rip on certain albums. This one doesn't deserve it.

I think I like the version of "Willin' and Able" from the video than the album version.

Was this ever released in just the audio format?

Ahh man, whoever trash this motha is full o' shit 'period' lol

Its not a masterpiece but it def have great feel in it. Rafael Saadiq did a song in his LP called "OPH" and its sooo much like 'strollin' now thats what I call a good tribute, "willing and able" man the Steeles are THE BEST vocalists who worked wit the bortha and Insatiable is just SEXY plain and simple like that. And nothing like the song Daddy pop, money don't matta 2night have a powerfull msg.

Sleep on this LP and you're a damn fool!

For an album that's supposedly lacks any raw edges, go back and listen to that guitar in Love 4 Love. It literally jumps out of the speakers! sick

I don't know of any officially released audio format but that was a great little performance. I also liked the little clips of live footage from the tour and the performance of Live 4 Love brought back alot of memories. Again, Prince rocked it on that guitar!

Thunder

Cream
Strollin
Willing And Able

Money Don't Matter 2night
Insatiable
Live 4 Love

The tracklist above would have made it near impossible for the hardcore naysayers to dismiss this album. Again, 10 songs fits very nicely.

One of his best 'albums'. It sounds like a complete 'thing' to me.

Thunder, Gett Off, Cream, Live 4 Love. Mo' funk in yo' earwhole! And Strollin - so cool.

Good album but a bit too slick and commercial. But it does have some of Princes best songs in the 90's:

Money Don't Matter..

Gett Off

Strollin

Cream

Insatiable and Push I can do without. Insatiable is a ballad that doesn't shed any new light in the slow jam catogory. Push is just goofy rap fluff.

Walk, don't Run has that neat horn shit.

Daddy Pop is goofy.

Diamonds and Pearls is great but too radio friendly.

Live 4 Love has to grow on you, then it rox.

Willing and Able is real good.

Jughead is at least fun. I at least get a decent head bob from it. Tony M rules!!

Dansa, I agree, MDMT is my cutt, sho nuff. horns woot!
headbang
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I love it! The tour was so great, too! The moment he got lifted on stage in that plastic-capsule with the opening lines of "Thunder", one of my favourite Prince-Moments. I nearly fainted because of all the excitement. My first Prince-Concert, you know...
See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...
