HMV 12 inches

Just got back from HMV in Reading (UK) and they were playing Chelsea Rodgers. If that was not exciting enough i found a whole end rack of 12" Prince (Purple Rain, Let's go Crazy, 1999, Raspberry Beret etc....) on vinyl - check it out if you live locally. £3.99 each or 3 for £10!

Don't waste your time. The cunts at Warners UK are using recordings from the original vinyl releases as the basis for these re-issues both for the 12" and digital download versions, meaning that you will hear surface noises and vinyl pop noises. WHAT A FUCKING JOKE.

How shocking!! You buy vinyl 12" and they actually sound like vinyl! That certainly warrants a swear-word hurled at the record-company ...

Anway, I bought all 12 of them, and I'm quite pleased with them - even though I already have the original versions. These editions are identical to the old ones, except that the colours are perhaps a bit off or fuzzy. Still, it's a treat to have these singles in crisp quality again. My old 12 inches were getting a bit tatty, however careful I've always been with them.

Well they are cunts. And if I buy a re-issue on vinyl, I don't expect it to be a dub from a vinyl copy. That's cheap as fuck, and reeks of some lazy prick at WB not being arsed to dig out master copies of the mixes...and don't say that they couldn't get access to them, as some of these mixes are on "Ultimate". There is no excuse.

Just curious: how do you distinguish pops etc. actually produced by vinyl from the ones that are on the recording itself?

Methinks you probably need superdeluxe hifi-ears for that.

Anyone know if it's possible to order these in the US? I checked several record store sites, including HMV.com, to no avail. HMV doesn't show vinyl when you search.
