PLANET EARTH is one of Prince's Greatest albums...

...I can't stop listening to Planet Earth.

It's got me hooked unlike any of his other recent albums.

I did LIKE 3121. I did LOVE Musicology.
But PLANET EARTH has been a whole different experience for me. I adore it.

Mainly because of the following tracks:
The One U Wanna C
Planet Earth
Guitar
Lions of Judah.

They are gems. Absoloutely gorgeous.

I think Prince is sounding more inspired now....

Definitely more inspired, less colorful as 3121 though

Prince's top ten albums is getting to be elite territory...high-rent district.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I personally wouldn't call it one of his best nor his greatest, but it is a good album. It goes to show you how you can follow-up two comeback albums impressively and still come out on top. I loved it, but 3121 is still the one that gets a lil more play.

The more I listen to it, the better it gets.

"Future Baby Mama" is the best track on there, followed by "Somewhere Here On Earth."

My initial response to this album was not good. When I first heard it, I would have rated it 2.5/5. Now I feel its more like a 3.5/5. Its a solid album, but definitely not in top 10 for me.

I take Rainbow kids over Sign, seriously. I think the Rainbow Children is one of his best albums. I love the slight jazz rand B funk flavor. I think that album is an absolute masterpiece and enjoy it more than 1999 and even Dirty Mind (an album I absolutely adore) combined. So if this person thinks planet Earth is one of his best thats fine by me, who cares really. It's the way the music effects them.

Yes I really, really love this CD too!! Although I have to give it more time because I wore Musicology and 3121 out when I first got those too!! So in about 6 months I might be more objective. BUT for the here and now this CD is just blowing me away and I have managed to listen to it every day since I bought it.

In this new trio of Prince cd's I think Planet Earth just seems to be scractching an itch that I didn't get off the other cd's. Still I think 3121 is his strongest r&b effort in a while and I think that Planet Earth is his strongest Pop record even stronger than Musicology.

I have a list of Prince albums that I count as my favourite, and that I think are great...

In NO particular order, they are:
PURPLE RAIN
SIGN O THE TIMES
PLANET EARTH
PARADE

Anway...Why am I justifying this? LOL.

I can like and love what I want.
You don't see me on here telling people that what they love is wrong...

I beg to differ, I couldn't decide which songs to download to my wing from the Planet earth album because it only holds five song, but I manage to put the ones that touched me most: Somewhere here on earth, Mr. Goodnight, All the Midnights in the world, Future Baby Mama, and The One You Wanna C. I think it's one of Prince's greatest albums because of the all the songs.

lol I went to Target last night because my Mom managed to talk me into letting her borrow my Planet Earth CD Saturday night. Well last night I missed it so much I went back to Target to get another and the album was sold out!!!! I immediately panicked because my mom has problem with giving stuff back when she likes something lol Well, I guess I'll venture out to other Targets in search of the album biggrin

I love you Prince..... Are you going to do at a mini Earth Tour in the US? I can't wait to see ya.!

Mr.Goodnight is very corny.

Prince was never great in mashing hip-hop into his music. If we count just the beats, then he had some decently produced hip-hop/hip-hop inspired productions. However, when he tries to spit (rap) it wack and corny. But I'm a hip-hop head, I follow the genre religiously so its easy form the to critique him. If you're not into real hip-hop, you don't really see it like i see it. This is why it bothers me.

There are some decent songs on it, but it definitely isn't in my top tier.

I'm enjoying Planet Earth too, but it's definitely NOT one of my favourite cd's. I'd give it a 6 1/2 out of 10.
