Prince becoming more tolerant in views on religion?

Line from Chelsea Rodgers; "Rome was chillin' in Carthage in 33 BCE"
I had no idea what the initials BCE stood for. I automatically assumed that it was some Jehova's Witness abbreviation that had something to do with Before Christ with the E being something that only the witnesses used.

So, I decided to do a little research, and came across the site; Religious Tolerance. org, which gives an explanation on BCE and CE.

These two abbreviations are being used to replace Before Christ and After Death in an attempt to be "less offensive" to those who do not practice Christianity.

The CE abbreviation stands for Common Era (AD) whereas the BCE is short for Before Common Era (BC).

It is very clear according to this website that these "new" abbreviations are being used to try and be more politically correct.

So why would Prince, known for voicing his religious beliefs loud and clear, use this abbreviation for any other reason other to show that he may be softening his JW beliefs?

Some of you may have more of an insight on this than I do, and if so, please educate me.

I find this very interesting.

Jehovah's Witnesses' literature has used the abbreviations "BCE" and "CE" for as long as I can remember. Political correctness has nothing to do with it at all.

No softening on views in that regard. smile

Also for the record, A.D. doesn't stand for After Death, but Anno Domini (Latin for "The year of the lord"). If it stood for After Death, I guess it would only be like.... 1974 AD right now. smile

Which would be nice, actually, because then I would have grown up during a time when music still kicked ass.

I'm no JW expert, but my assumption would be that the JWs don't use the term Before Christ (BC) because a) the exact year of his birth is unknown, and b) they don't really believe in celebrating birthdays anyway. So it would make sense that the JWs would choose Before Common Era (BCE) over Before Christ (BC).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, Uhope
