Well, if The Work collection is any indication of what's in The Vault, then we'd be in for a treat. Great! but if I never hear it Great! Whatever's in it whether it be total shit or absolute masterpieces... has nothing to do with how I feel about P not wanting to release it. U have to know anything that sees the light of day from the Vault ain't gonna be what P considers is his worst... But if he never releases anything else from it like I said I ain't beat... I just don't understand why so many people are stuck on it other than the fact that its in the vault... I mean if something got released from the Vault and I consider it to be good, I just appreciate it and move on. | |

I think you are right, but on the other hand, the suspicion is killing me! Like, if the song is horrible, I'm gonna be honest and say that it sucks....because, well, it sucks. I can't lie, no matter the circumstances. But, it wouldn't hurt to get just a peek here and there.  Thats exactly my point. People aren't wanting the contents of the vault just because they think it might be listenable... They want it because its in the vault! They feel its off limits... My mother used to tell me if ur sister wants to share with u fine, but if she doesn't fine. And I feel the same way about P and his music. If he releases it all thats good but if it never sees the light of day good! Thats his perrogative and I'm not gonna waste any time or lose any sleep tryna figure out why P does what he does or doesn't do. | |

agreed that some of the material that has been leaked is either brilliant or medicore (as it is with the official releases). the rumor of there being more than 500 tracks unreleased makes me want 2 hear all that music. 4 those that share the same sentiments, wouldn't it b cool if we had a new album every month of say 10-12 tracks? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 | |

Well, I remember back in 1999 when Rave was coming out and P did an interview with Kurt Loader from MTV. P said he had alot of completed projects in the vault that he would love to release someday. Some really raunchy P tunes and great love songs and funk. And some really psychedelic Time songs from the day. That is the kind of stuff I would like to see the light some day. I know he has some fantastic vocal stuff somewhere and I think the stuff from his 1999-P.R. period was some of the best. Imagine some of the taped conversations and jokes P was having with Morris and the boys at that time. Even to put out b-sides like Tricky and Grace and Cloreen Baconskin was great. I would love to see more stuff like that sneak out sometime.

Hell Yes! I get a good laugh out of people saying "he should have edited down certain albums to one solid album" as if they're some kind of hot-shot producer (LMAO), or they opine that "he shouldn't oversaturate the market with too much material" like some dweeb-headed marketing executive would say. Factoring out the common message it's like I'm hearing "Hey Prince, I'm on this forum so I'm a really big fan of yours, but whatever you do DON'T RELEASE YOUR MUSIC!" Unbelievable!!! He's got all that material, old and new, so just RELEASE IT for Christ's sakes!!!!! ..... Just say "NO" to cow mucus consumption! | |

As some others here said, i think his 'vault' isnt quite as full anymore as it was in the eighties, because he has used a lot of material from it on his songs from the nineties and 00's.
And a lot of the original material from the vault has reached the outside world trough different bootlegs. Next to that: i think a large part of the vault doesnt exist out of complete songs. Its probably filled with a lot of unedited bandjams, idea's he recorded very quickly and unfinished demo's. | |
