New marketing plan ideas for "Planet Earth"

Okay, so I have recently come to the place in my mind where album sales for my favorite artist do not mean anything. And I think Prince has been there for awhile. But if he DID care about boosting this mother to double platinum status, here is the new revised marketing plan I am suggesting:

1) Keep the Urban AC love coming: FBM is currently number 14 with exposure to 5 million listeners. The song has lots of momentum and should peak in the Top 5. Immediately after it peaks, release "Somewhere Here on Earth" and watch it do the same thing if not better.

2) Do NOT release Chelsea Rodgers as a single: This is not a single, this is a nice little album track. It will not get strong airplay on any format.

3) Announce a US tour soon: Vital for this album to maintain sales. A world tour would be even better. This time announce that Prince is unretiring the songs that he said he would never play live again...for the very last time.

4) Do Oprah: No, not literally, even though that might create a lot of buzz for the CD.

5) Call Grey's Anatomy: Yeah, okay it's selling out but who the hell cares. Call Grey's Anatomy production staff and ask if they could place "The 1 U Wanna C" at the opening of the season premiere of "Grey's". Just imagine it, the staff is putting their scrubs on, getting ready for another day at the hospital, and our man's great pop ditty is playing in the background.

6) After Grey's...: Get the single "The 1 U Wanna C" to Hot AC channels all over the country. This is a larger market than Urban AC and these stations play Prince's old stuff all the time. If they can play old farts like Bon Jovi, they would certainly love a format fitting single from P.

7) Forget pop radio: Unless a remix of "Mr Goodnight" is done with people shouting "a bay bay" in the background it is not going to get played anyway.

8) After "The 1 U Wanna C" peaks on Hot AC, do a multi-million dollar video for "Mr. Goodnight" and release it directly to "YouTube": Okay this one might be a bit far-fetched.

9) Call Al Gore: Prince needs to see if he can get "Planet Earth" the song added to the inevitable sequel, "An Inconvenient Truth 2: The Earth Strikes Back."

I have got to change my name.

I just figured if any of this actually happened I could take credit for it and, you know, if the man wanted to send me a small percentage I wouldn't exactly turn it down...

I don't think it is possible to change your account name other
than starting a new accout. Or am I wrong? hmmm

That would be nice, but I think that chances are negligible...sad

Though i dont like to get into marketing stuff, because really, no matter what you do, this album is going to sell to the loyals and really thats about it. BUT just one point, on Princes last two releases he has had RB radio support (somewhat) Call my name,Satisfied,Black Sweat and it really does nothing extra for the records. Not that i care about what this album sells, but without a crossover hit, yes POP radio, look at what sells, RB/RAP is down the drain at this point in terms of sells, its either country/disney/or Pop Compilations.

I got a better idea: burn all copies of it & release "Madrid 2 Chicago" instead! nod

Al Gore announcing that, with Prince as his running mate, he is going to run for President and save the planet Earth.

Once this happens, Prince will wipe the floor with that "Now" CD.
