Very few artist have been blessed enough after 30 years of inspiring over 3 generations to still be able to stand proud have fun, love music for the very sole purpose it was created for... child please.. Prince having been around for near on 30 years i don't think is too worried about young talent. In fact, he would welcome it and often gives props so long as they can prove themselves live.
Whoever this guy is, talent is not everything. Hunger, originality, attitude, shrewdness and various intangibles play a big part too. And if he can't do his thing live in the way Prince did throughout the 80s...he won't last. I look forward to finding out who he is though, I'm always happy to see someone new on the scene if they've got talent. One album won't prove anything either though, could you judge Prince on his first 3 albums that included the amazing Dirty Mind? You could start, but no one knew that 1999 was still to come! and then PR, and yet he still had something completely different with ATWIAD up his sleeve 8 yrs in to his career, not to mention parade, sott...Funny to think someone could just start on October 7th and humble all that material, and all the tours...lol! | |
