Purple Rain on HD Discs

Just some news that pop up on the Internet. This is for fan of Purple Rain and HD DVD / Blue Ray owners. The Movie is been released on July 24 on both formats

Are there any good, inexpensive players available that play both formats along with standard DVD, divx, xvid, etc??

the cheapest player i have seen is a HD DVD for 399.00. Right now in my personal case, I wouldn't invest in either, (betamax come to mind as the MiniDisc and the Digital Cassette) The one with the edge is Blue Ray (more people is developing, plus Blockbuster is also pushing this technology. Now when they do a Box set or something with the Movies, plus Sign 'o' the Times and Prince and the Revolution, Live, then just then i consider.

Only LG make a dual format player at the moment but it's expensive and doesn't do everything, so I'd recommend avoiding it.

Oh my god, how many different versions of this are out there? It's a shame how people will keep spending they're money on the same thing over and over and in 6 months there will be a 'better' version than this confused

Blu Ray has the edge right now but the cheapest players are the HDDVD ones. Walmart recently signed a deal with a company to buy a whole crapload of hddvd players so that they can sell them for cheap in the stores. If Blu Ray doesnt lower the cost of their players there could be a change in the trend of the market. cool .....and yes I think the whole format war is stupid I wish they would just pick one already

This hasn't been confirmed yet. Since only Universal, Panasonic and Toshiba are on the HD side. Even Blockbuster will stop renting nationally HD and stack Blue Rays in all the stores.

What's the cost? Any perks on this? Do we get to see the deleted scenes? Any bloopers or gag reels? Otherwise, what's the point? The new digitally released version a couple of years ago with 5.1 THX surround sound works fine. confused

I have both Blu Ray and HD DVD (for the 360) players.

I purchased the Blu Ray copy and could not be happier.

The transfer is excellent considering the age of the movie and the fact that it was a low budget film.

Audio is great too!

I went with the Blu Ray version as the PS3 has better audio performance than the 360 HD DVD player.

Get yourself a playststion 3, not only the most powerful games machine it supports blue ray so you can watch your movies but also normal dvds!
You can load all your prince cds on to the hard drive, browse the internet, download games, movie trailers and soon whole films. The internet browser is quicker than windows and i have a usb keybourd for text.Get a headset and use for chat with other ps3 guys and play on line with free gaming unlike the xbox. i do not work for sony but i think this is good way of getting a good blue ray player with loads of extra options for your money!!

Just dont plan on having any "Good" games to play for a while if you do buy one. lol

... The Playstation 3 is great because of all the other features... But its games(and line-up) are Seriously Lacking.

I've been wondering weather or not they actually remastered everything, or if they just transfered the 25th anniversary eddition. I thought the audio work they did on the anniversary set was absolutely horrible. I watched it once when it first came out, but have stuck with the `98(?) release since. So if they haven't fixed the audio I have no interest in getting it 'till it's in the bargain bins.

The picture is the best it's ever been. It looks really good. The movie on dvd still has alot of dark/shaded scenes. But the blue ray version has much less of that and much more color.
FYI - THe 8 videos are not HD quality. Sorry, no Sex Shooter in HD.

Actually... I didnt like Xbox(original) and have been a Big Playstation supporter since PSOne.... But the Xbox 360 is Great!...

When Playstation 3 offers some great games (and if I can afford it come then).... I'll would most certainly get one... The deciding factor for me will be the next Gran Turismo. That is my game!.... So far Forza Motorsport 2 is Great, so the next Gran Turismo has to be better than Forza 2 for me to buy a PS3... (Not to mention that it is taking 2/3 years almost for Gran Turismo PSP...but thats a whole other story)

As far as Blu-Ray and all the other "bells & whistles", the PS3 is Great!... Now if they would just offer some Great Games.

cool

lol

Right now I have "Forza Motorsport 2"... which is all I need as far as games go.... Maybe "Gran Turismo" will do it for the PS3 (its really sad to even think that it might not) ... until then I'll save my cash.... Thanks for the Invite tho. smile

On another note... I think that its kool that the "Happy Feet" Video is available on Xbox Live... Is it available on PS3 Online?....

I hope theres gonna be more Prince content for Xbox Live (& PS3 Online) in the future. It would be great if I could get a "Planet Earth/Prince" Dashboard Theme.

cool
