When will WE the people.. Start demanding that artist who "claim" to be artist actually have talent? We don't have to like a song just because its been played sooo many times it has worn on us.
Prince is one man....1. There are several more rare talents waiting to be discovered as soon as WE stop supporting the crap thats fed to us. Support more INDIE artist's who really have something to say, and stop "liking it because it has a cool beat"! " shut up already, ...dayum!"

Seriously, that'll NEVER happen!! Young people are what drives the music business and their musical tastes aren't mature enough to recognize brilliance from crap. How else does R. Kelly keep selling records, why do artists allow Scott Storch anywhere near their recording sessions. Who said Chris Brown should step to a mic. I mean BLECH!
We the peoples only hope is to sift through the tons of driss produced daily and filter out what we as individuals like. I mean you can lead a horse to water but... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

Ummmm...you might wanna think about switching to decaf. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Honestly, the reason why Prince was so hot in the 80's is for the same reason that these people are currently hot. Not because he was better. But because it was right place/right time with catchy/state-of-the-art songs and a huge push from the label. Yes, real music lovers enjoyed him too, but he was "popular" for the same reason anyone gets "popular" and that's because teenagers dig it. Same for any artist of any decade. well, a cool beat is fun, and fun is great!!
but almost half of the indie artists out there are a) too comercial to really be "indie" b) suck musically (they're music is to artsy and abstract to the point that it's stupid) i dunno, i don't really mean to condem all indie artists or whatevs, but ever since i took a music theory class, i've had this crazy appreciation for prince's musicianship.

When the goverment puts an age limit on music. It's dangerous for children to buy music. They get this stuff when there young, this really bad stuff, and screws them up into there an adulthood, and hopefully they can recover. Some sadly never do....
Parents of world please!! Pay attention to what your children are listing too. If your like "what is this crap" Ban it from the house. It could destroy their lives! Love live P.A.S.M. (Parent Against Shity Music) [Edited 7/26/07 0:08am]

(Parent Against Shity Music) [Edited 7/26/07 0:08am] Gett Off and Sexy MF and Head destroyed my life for sure. not because they were raunchy and I was impressionable. But because I used to be a productive member of society, and now all I do is talk about Prince on the internet "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

I didn't say ALL indie artist. I have a firm grip...on my money and my time. When are we gonna realize that the power is in our own hands? Thats why we are all on this site now. Who had the WHOLE package like Prince did in the 80's.....NO ONE! Yeah he was comertial and all that , but there were more than just that appeal. He had style could sang and play his ass off. Every show was a killer. How many artsit (top 40) today can do that??? I know off the to of my head indie artist who are under the radar that can bring it live....and I support them.
