Prince gonna get u HIGH !!!!! I know this has been brought up in the past but I've been listening to "The Chocolate Invasion" lately and that cd is actually really good. While I really like some of the cuts on "Musicology" (the title song, a million days, cinammon girl, call my name)...OVERALL, as a whole, the chocolate invasion is a better album in my opinion.
And the song "HIGH" is classic Prince....it's like an updated version of the Prince sound from his self-titled album. It just sounds to me like if you took songs like "I wanna be your lover" and "I Feel 4 U" and made something with a similar vibe but for today's market. Anyways, the song "HIGH" is a really great Prince song and even though I'm glad it was released on The Chocolate Invasion, I think it's a good enough song that it should have been released on one of the physical cd's and gotten played at concerts, etc. That song is just a really good "get you in a good mood" jam and it's kinda lost in the shuffle. And while I prefer the 3121 version of "The Dance" (love it), the original Chocolate Invasion version is pretty dope too! [Edited 8/2/07 10:54am] [Edited 8/2/07 10:55am]

I think you're high already
Seriously, that song is sooooo bad, so corny and so unfunky, I would need to be high on something other than Prince to enjoy it.

I do actually like the rest of Chocolate Invasion a lot, definitely should've been a proper release.

I think it has it's moments and is far better than Slaughterhouse but I can see why it wasn't properly released.
I think between the two releases there is a good album. I'm glad you like this song but I could never get into this song. It comes from a period in his music where he really was just coasting IMO - the best song from this period (again IMO) was Pearls B4 The Swine - amazing amazing song The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I think he wasn't "coasting" per say. It seemed as though the music was a bit freer to experimentation and freer from expectations. He took risks in his music becasue he wasn't trying to have a hit. Christian Zombie Vampires

"High" is a great Prince song (I still remember the incomplete first half sounding so good on the audio show it first surfaced on), and according to his engineer, one that he really spent time on getting the parts and mix just right. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I believe it. I know there were plans for an album called "High" and I don't know maybe I'm high (on purple koolaid) but it seems to me that "High" would be a great song and concept to build an album around. And I like how he name drops himself...."Prince gonna get u high." One thing I love about Prince albums is that even the ones that are just "okay" (relative to his other greater work) are still pretty great when you are tired of his more popular work and you wanna go back and check out something else!

I loooove this song! It reminds me of the celebration in Minnesota back in 2002, when I heard this song a lot. It brings back really great memories. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

[Edited 8/2/07 15:45pm] There was an album slated called High. I've seen it in Bootleg circles...cover and all. It only had 10-12 tracks on it. While the music selection was a good one, this would have been seen as another hodge Podge attempt at an album ala Rave. Most of those tracks, however, wound up on TCI and Slaughterhouse... Here's the wiki entry on it. High is the name of an unreleased album by Prince. The bulk of the material was written after the Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic sessions (1998–1999) but before The Rainbow Children sessions (2000). Some of the these tracks may have been considered for an aborted fourth NPG album called Peace, but most were intended for the High project. The album basically celebrates the return of Prince (having changed his name back in 2000) and the title track refers to Prince's music giving the listener a natural "high" instead of drugs. Incidentally, this theme was used on an outtake from 1982 called "Purple Music". The album's tracks, although not outstanding compared to Prince's pre-1990s material, are a considerable improvement over most of Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. Totally free from the boundaries of marriage, Prince appears to return to his more sexual themes in certain songs and occasionally uses the "adult language" and mild curse words which titillated fans for years. For unknown reasons, Prince scrapped the idea and instead recorded and released the religious concept album The Rainbow Children in 2001. His reasoning behind this is unclear; Prince may have simply lost interest in the project, as he been known to do throughout his career. Nevertheless, most if not all of the tracks have since been released in some form or another. Eight songs were released as 2-track limited CD-singles during Prince's 2001 "Hit'N'Run" tour and many others were released as MP3s on Prince's subscription website in 2001. Two albums were later released as downloads on Prince's site in 2004, The Slaughterhouse and The Chocolate Invasion. Both include tracks from the aborted High sessions. [edit] Possible tracks "When I Lay My Hands On U" "Judas Smile" "Supercute" "Underneath the Cream" "Sex Me, Sex Me Not" "Vavoom" "High" "Gamillah" "U Make My Sun Shine" "Silicon" "Y Should I Do That When I Can Do This" "Golden Parachute" "Hypnoparadise" "Props n' Pounds" "Northside" "Peace" "2045: Radical Man" "The Daisy Chain" "When Will We B Paid?" "My Medallion" Christian Zombie Vampires

from the chocolate factory, there is two things i sure can state:
1/ Prince was really no more inspired nor amused by the whole sexual thing, and the libido based lyrics, just weren't working no +. 2/ VAVOOM is what i am looking for in Prince. No megalomania, just hairs undone vs. the wind. Prince should go on the hippie path, not the "famous" one. more
