SNL Performance of "Fury" Video

OK.

Out of all the things Prince does 2 control people's use of his performances, etc., I cannot understand 4 the life of me why U can't find the SNL "Fury" performance anywhere online.

Possibly the best live TV performance ever, and no one will ever know about it. Prince's live performances will be a part of music history, yet he chooses 2 be unrecognized by the public. He is determined 2 erase himself, and I can't figure out why.

do

IT IS VERY STRANGE

Prince should want people to see his vids.

VIDEOS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROMOS

He is so controlling he doesn't want people to post vids he can't control

I HATE that about him. It is disgusting and an insult to fans

Anxiety

the SNL performance isn't just about prince's wishes...it's also about NBC's wishes. i'm sure prince has a hand in keeping the clip off the internet, but keep in mind it's not completely (not even MOSTLY, i would guess) "his" property.

SNL is VERY protective of its copyrighted broadcasts. They pulled Justin Timberlake's "Dick In A Box" from Youtube several times. iTunes may have the SNL broadcasts on their site. Otherwise, you may have to get the Fury video from a fan who has it stored on their hard drive or find it on P2P sites. Dont blame this one on Prince! It's NBC and SNL!

Even if this stuff were for sale -- which it hardly ever is, but someday they might just get around to it -- I'd never purchase the professional high-definition video.

What do I need with professional mastering when I can pull a postage stamp up on my computer?

And what the hell would pay TV know about increasing sales (again, if this stuff actually ever went on sale) through advertising?

Someday some of these substantial business types will wake up and it'll be 2007.

Let me introduce you to something called an MP3.

Right now they just have to give their lawyers some reason to be.

Intellectual property, you now?

Don't even suggest tape machines or a Tivo to them -- their heads just might explode.

- yes, I never understood why he doesnt take care of his legacy. In a world that people talk about Beatles, Led Zep and Jimi all the time, it would be cool if he showed the world his best work too. Not hide it.

I'm not late at all. I saw it live on TV, and recorded it. I was asking about it's lack of presence online... Plus I wanted 2 prove something 2 someone. It's all good though... Thanks 2 some helpful folks, I found it online.

I was just thinking about this performance today. I don't think I've ever been so blown away by a musician's tv performance as I was when I saw that....I remember at the time the only thing I had heard from the upcoming 3121 album was "Black Sweat" and I was not impressed. Was totally expecting him to play that, and I was looking forward to it, but then he busted into this brand new song that I had never heard and proceeded to absolutely kill it on the guitar like I've never seen anyone do....absolutely amazing.

That performance along with his SuperBowl performance are unbelievable and another one that I love is when he performed the song "Dolphin" on the David Letterman show in the mid 90's. That was another amazing performance that doesn't get mentioned much here.
