Let's observe these two similar lyrics, shall we. "All I got for chicks, hot dick and bubblegum
Flip bricks like Fred, Barny Rubble and them" - Jay Z from "A Million and One Questions" "I'll work you out, 'til your soft and wet Hot Dick and bubblegum is all you'll get!" - Prince from "Let's Work" Now, I've "ALWAYS" wondered what the hell that saying meant. What the hell is "Hot Dick and Bubblegum"? I think I've got a good idea of it, but I laugh whenever I hear these lyrics. [Edited 7/25/07 6:57am]

Yet again, another topic of mine gets a lot blank stares. I'm starting to think I am one of the accounted big jokes around "The ORG"! I'm hoping that ain't the case, but I got a sneaky suspicion about it.

[Edited 7/25/07 6:57am] Well I don't know the Jay Z song---it seems like he is just blatantly using a phrase from Let's Work. Now in terms of Let's Work, the line before says "I'll work you 'til you're soft & wet." You chew bubble gum till it's soft & wet, too...so my guess is that Prince is saying he's gonna work the girl's body 'til she's soft & wet--either by using his "hot dick" or maybe his mouth (à la chewing bubble gum). That whole stanza has Prince listing where & how he's gonna 'work' her. As an aside, I always thought he said "my dick & bubble gum is all you get;" it doesn't really change my theory though. And that I am actually having a serious analytical conversation about this phrase. Only on a Prince site. . [Edited 7/25/07 8:44am]

[Edited 7/25/07 8:44am] Yeah, I just that, at some point in time, that it may have been a common saying in some era during a cultural boom. Like, maybe it had something to do with how "THE CREAM" can be bubbly sometimes. Yeah, I went there.
