I think it is the most sensible choice, but then Prince and sensible have never really been mentioned together very often. this message brought to you by logic.

Wikipedia isn't always very reliable. But anyway, CR won't do well in the US at all. 1 U Wanna C is just about the only hope this album has for a pop hit (FBM already looks on its way to be an R&B success)

Don't like this choice. I like the song but damn P doesn't even sing on it. Big miscalculation if it ends up being accurate but in the end it doesn't matter because as we all know he will not get any substantial pop airplay regardless of what is released. All good things they say never last...

i disagree.the 1 u wanna c is not a good song,it sounds like a bon jovi/vh1 ripoff.mr.goodnight ,somehwere here on earth would be suitable choices.future babys mama has gotten enough airplay to place at 51 it's second week on the r&b charts and it's just on airplay..no single or video.with a push chelsea rodgers may take off.

CR can definitely b a club hit!! As far as pop charts, if Guitar can't do it, I doubt CR can. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I dont get it that people here think this couldnt be a hit in the general popcharts.
I mean, its the sort of song that when you hear it for the first time it immediately sounds 'good', it is infectious, catchy, danceable, and for the people who cant stand Princes voice it has the right amount of female vocals on it (whether its Shelby or Marva). I think that if this song is promoted well: by a humoristic video, and a right amount of 'propping', it could be a major hit. I am glad Prince at least sees the hit-potential of this song, because i still cant understand why he never released 'Love' from 3121 as a single.

i think this being a lead single would confuse alot of people. prince really should have been the lead vocalist on this song.

Exactly, that's point one why it won't be a US hit. Point 2: This sort of retro disco thing doesn't fly in the US. In fact, this applies to any kind of fast dance music these days. It's a shame, but it's true.

Great choice!! He does'nt even sing the lead vocal..About as smart as releasing I hate u for the gold experience

wikipedia isn't a good source... I loathe that site! can he release a music video already??!! btw- how many songs have been "officially" released. 1 or 3? I am confused... "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."

Why does everyone think that Prince has to sing lead for a song to be a hit. He's present enough in this song (for God's sake, it's his baby!). This is the most fun song on the CD from a club perspective. You'd have to be dead to not want to dance to it.
Prince is a genius...he does it his way. Who are any of us to second-guess his creative decisions? Shelby is amazing on this! And the arrangement is flawless...I look forward to hearing it live someday...and dancing my ass off to it! Thanks, Prince. I haven't immediately loved a song like this for a long time! Makes me feel young again!
