Alright this is one of those WTF moments I get from time to time for being into Prince. As I purchased my copy of Planet Earth tonight the cashier remarked that he'll never be able to pronounce his name...I update the little twirp about the name change press conference 7 years ago in NY and he tells me he doesn't really watch much TV. So then out of the blue he says he doesn't like Prince because he won't let Weird Al parody his songs I probably gave him a WTF look cause then he says but I guess everybody has a weird something about them and then he tells me Prince is in Guinness Book of Records for the most aliases. I should have just smacked him, but that would be un-Prince like of me.

Now I know I'm a tad sensitive with those who don't like Prince's music because they think he's gay, or he's 'weird' but seriously this has to be the stupidest reason I've ever heard. My reply was everybody can't be like R.Kelly, thank God. Sorry I'm just venting. BTW I love the album and Somewhere Here on Earth is just what I need right now...

I think smacking him would have been a very Prince-like thing to do

But don't worry, my friend hates him because of his falsetto and calls him a girl all the time He even prefers Nicole Kidman's version of Kiss from Happy Feet over the original!

My favorite was a guy, a musician and pop music lover no less whose opinion I respected about a lot of music, told me he simply did not like "that kind of music". I said "what, you don't like rock, pop, R&B, funk...GOOD MUSIC??"

Some people can't be helped.

I just remembered I played Sister and Come for two of my friends and they said "Is there something wrong with him? Like..seriously is he retarded?"

I haven't played them any Prince since then

As I handed the CD to the cahier guy at Best Buy to pay for it, he sees it and says "The Artist" so I quickly corrected him and said "Prince", and he says "oh, isn't it a symbol?" and of course, i thought "where the hell have u been"... but i just said "It's Prince again." He didn't say anything to me after that.


I am still liking the albums, i really like Somewhere Here on Earth, Chelsea, and, Guitar... well, my top 3. I like most of the others as well!

I think it's because people can't put a tag on Prince, they come up with stupid reasons.

When I was picking up the cd last friday the guy in the store asked my advice.
He said he liked TRC and NEWS and wanted to listen to more Prince stuff.

I wanted him to try C-NOTE, but since that is not available in stores I told him to try the C&D album.

omg i totally have defended Prince's name numerous times for the oddest of reasons. Lets see: my brother's don't like his music because he's short, sounds gay, and looks like MJ . seriously- WTF?!?! At record stores, when I ask for Prince CD's I either get a scoff or they ask "he still makes music?" or "the short guy?". Ugh- some ppl have no tatste. And no common sense.

yeah, his music is not easy to listen to. For example the Come album - I had to listen to it for like ten times before I liked it and by that time I was "used to" his kind of music. It is very hard to find something catchy, yet one of his best songs to get ppl into him. Cause some of the best songs take time to get into.
