I think there is a new paradigm. For an artist with multiple releases, there really isn't any such thing as an album.

There is a user-modified group of favored songs on an iPod or mp3 player.

The release - what we call an album - is really nothing more than an offering. One can buy the entire offering and choose the appropriate songs to download, or one can download song by song.

This is how music will be arranged by the user from now on, IMHO.
