Planet Earth #1 in Billboard Album Charts [Prediction]

With lots of good reviews and loads of news reports about Mail On Sunday, word of mouth around the world and still riding on the overwhelming success of concerts and this year's Superbowl as well as no other CD competition, Planet Earth will be #1. But being #1 doesn't matter when you're #1 at the bank!

Yeah, I'm sure it will be a NÂș1, just like 3121 was; but then, like 3121, it will quickly fall off the charts, and hopefully it will sold "only" 500.000 - 1.000.000 in the US.

There's been very little promotion in the states. I am sure there will NOT be a #1 debut.

how can it, 3121 had a tonne of promotion staring in the December before with the realease of the single, TV appearances etc. This has just had press articles and NOTHING directly from the man himself.

I think it will be, just a feeling. People know a new CD is out there and the help of that Verizon commercial too keeps him in our minds.

I think that this week is the only chance PE has to reach #1. In the following weeks the sales will decrease abruptly.

Last year there was a guy here, Mazerati (?), that used to post day by day the amount of sales as counted from Soundscan. After three days, it appeared clear that at the end of the week 3121 would b at #1 or #2.
It would b interesting to know where he was taking that infos from.

I saw another thread where it was predicted that the CD will sell around 100,000 copies in the US.That might guarantee a Number One debut, assuming that there weren't any other eagerly awaited CDs that came out this week.

Albums don't sell anything any more in general. A year's top seller these day is an album that goes triple platinum. 500,000 is the new platinum!

PE will debut somewhere from 1-3, depending on how far Now part 256 and Hannah Montana fall off. Now sold over 200K, actually below what NOW compilations usually sell. Hannah sold 120 K. If PE does sell 100K, he should overtake Hannah at least.

Lack of talk show appearances and the complete dismissal from pop radio will ultimately stall the album sales. I still think he'll sell enough that he can buy the jumbo box of raisanettes! biggrin

This is the best week to get new while it is on sale for $10.
