How Many Listens Does it Take? It's funny.
To me, only a Prince album, can take many, many listens until I decide if I like it or not; most of the times Prince CDs have a way of growing on me. I'm probably about 4 or 5 listens into "PE" and I think it's growing on me. The songs, especially "The 1 U Wanna C" are starting to play in my head. Y'all??

Planet Earth didn't take me too long to get into - 3 listens at the most I'd say.
Purple Rain and Sign o The Times were instant for me, love them both. Parade and Come took me about 4 listens, still not into everything on both of those albums. So I'd say 3-4 listens for me.

PE has taken me more listens than most Prince albums. It's definitely growing on me. And I absolutely love that - art that unwraps itself with each listen. Prince albums that grab me on first listen, bar a few examples, don't have as much lasting appeal to me. Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

I generally liked the album from the beginning. But Some songs had to grow on me:
"The One U Wanna C" (about 10 spins); "Lion Of Judah" (about 10 spins); "All The Midnights In The World" (took me about two weeks , so I'd say 30 spins); Hell, right now I can't get "All The Midnights In The World" out of my head. [Edited 7/27/07 0:27am]

I listened to it five times in a row, decided it was shit and won't listen to it again. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

I strongly disagree. A lot of my all-time Prince favorites I didn't really "get" upon first listen. The complexities, that first sound incorrect or "odd" grow on you in his best work.

This album is growing on me in an incredible way. I think "The 1 U Wanna C" is
the only track that I loved on first listen. It's so damn catchy. Now, I'm loving every track more and more with each listen. I've got a guitar that can part the sea.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."
