This is not a discussion of the album, per se, because the English newspaper release did not have this cover - although it's the same album.


It's a great idea to add value to the product.

I brought it into work today and everyone seemed to be impressed with the cover.

I would have brought it to work, but that inside picture is a bit embarrassing....People are just now starting to focus on his music
and musicianship, and poses like that take the argument right back
to where it started from...

That was the comment from at least one person. Another remarked on just how good he looked for his age. Keep in mind, these are people who probably had no idea he had a new album out...or even a new album out since "Purple Rain."

The 3D cover looks cool and quite appealing, but it could've been alittle more. I guess Prince just doesn't like having photoshoots anymore. The online lyrics booklet doesn't look too much like nothing. But I love the packaging overall!

Oh did I mention that the inside pic looks like Prince is hung over or something? It looks reckless...

I think it's childish and gimmicky. Don't u get those kinds of things in cracker jack boxes or incorperated in torys that come out of those 25-50 cent machines infron of grocery stores.

I thought it was cool and VERY eye catching, especially with the red.

I was looking for it in a cd store and it seemed to just JUMP out at me and i don't think it would have if it were normal.

I think the question of "is it biodegradable" doesn't apply, since it's not a disposable item. The point is not always what happens when it gets thrown away, but what goes into producing it from the start. There's also reduced weight, which reduces anything related to shipping (fuel, labor, etc).

I think the holographic cover is cool, but I do think it's a bit gimmicky . . . especially since Prince has already done it (on Diamonds & Pearls). I will say this though: it does catch your eye in the stores.

The cover looked great from a distance.....that is how I found it. The inside needs help.....some serious HELP. That is one of the most unattractive photos I've seen of him and those who know me know I'm a hog for a great Prince shot.
What the hell was he thinking? That hambuger meat hanging out(chest hair)...the I'm so sexy eyes, also not doing it for me in this shot....the corsette...wait...I know I know I don't see leapard print as well...good gawd!!!
I too would not take this to work because I would have been in several verbal wars over his sexuality. The only thing that caught my interest was trying to count the rocks in his symbol and wondering are they real.
What was going on in this shoot?? This cleary looks like a in between shot...how on "earth" pun intended did it wind up here baffles me. Well I guess it could be worse...it could be on the cover!!!!
Was anyone else cheesed off that the lyrics were not there. How many of you are going to mix up this cd with S.S.T?? What was he doing with that...why is the cover art copied?
I guess I'm so critical about this one because I have a very acute artisitc eye and ...well I just cannot help myself.....I still love you Prince!

I love the cover! It jumps out at u-I spotted it right away,as soon as I walked in2 the wrekka stow!

anyone else notice that there are two diffrent covers? I know i'm going to get jumped on here.. But Best Buy had about 30 CD's on display.. half of them when you look at straight on are prince and the earth, when you tilt the CD you get the "symboyl" while the other on is just the opposite, straight on it's the "symbol", at an angle it's Prince and the earth.

Best buy had it arranged on a rack. about 6 cd's across and 4 CD's down..displaying the CD in a "checker board" effect with the two veriations.

I can't stop messing with it, turning it about in my hands..

I love it, I think it's a nifty package, really captures your attention. Wish he hadn't skimped out on an insert booklet though. Thats half the point.

Nope. Not even an album title. The only text on the entire package is the credits behind the CD.

Basically the Black Album and Diamonds and Pearls packaging had a bastard child.

I'm very curious...what is behind the hologram piece? Has anyone removed it off an extra copy yet??
