3 Album Arc Theory Completed with PE? well its been said on the org, that Prince albums come in 3's with the 3rd being a sonic departure from the last two. i think Musicology, 3121, and PE generally were relatively well rec'd by the reviews i've read. With Musicology cited as his "comeback" and 3121 "building upon its success". All three have been described as "accessible". So even though PE is not a major sonic departure, do u all feel it will complete the current "era" ('04-'07)and the next project will be more conceptual, dedicated to one genre, or more of the same (a lil somethin' for everyone)?

Well, as far as i have read, Prince is going to take a sabbatical to study the bible.
So his next album will probably Rainbow Children part II

i like the idea that Musicology, 3121 & PE comprise a TRILOGY 4 this time period. however, i view Musicology as a "warm up" for P re-entering the mainstream w/the next two albums. for me, this release is not of the same caliber as 3121 & PE. certainly one may describe ALL THREE ALBUMS AS "accessible" and generally well rec'd, but i disagree that Musicology 'had a lil somethin' for everyone.' for me Musicology was mostly a release that coincided with: • the '04 mega-tour • P's new marketing idea of giving away CD w/the show • the 20 year anniversary or PR & • P's year of induction into the R&R Hall of Fame in conclusion, 2004 was a GREAT YEAR for P, but Musicology the album was not in itself a particularly glimmering highlight of this time period.
