Cherry Moon Say What?

O.k I want to know if anybody else realized that in the movie "Under The Cherry Moon" It was alot of stuff in there that wasn't supposed to be in there! confuse Meaning the movie supposedly took place in the 1920's and the ruckus that was going on in there was eyepop nutty For ex: Planet Rock as we all know no one was planet rockin in the 1920's ecspecially in France. lol Christopher & Tricky {2 black men} bustin up into a white person's home without invitation, eek they asses would have been in jail. evillol When Chris & Tricky were in the hotel room they had a "Miles Davis" album sitting up in the corner and I don't think Miles Davis was even born yet confused and last but probably not the least seeing a man dressing the way Christoper was dressing back then he probably would have went to jail just 4 that! falloff I can't remember the rest right now, it's not swirling in my dome but did ya'll notice anything out of the ordinary?

It was never set in the 1920s. What gave you that idea? The black and white thing was just there to give it that old 'feel', but it was never intended to be set back then specifically.

An homage...so lots of 20/30s influences in clothing and furnishings, but clearly set in the modern day...I mean having Christoper Tracy's buick for a start would be more than an oversight, as well as Isaac's Rolls, the Porsche, Mrs Wellington's answering machine...the big stereo system Tricky carried in to the posh "Le Papillon" restaurant, the jet that Mary and her mother were about to catch to New York, the apartment complex in Miami that Tricky was the landlord at the end of the film....

All this WAS SUPPOSED to be in there....have you seen the film? It's pretty obvious is not actually supposed to be in the 20s or 30s.

Yes! I have seen the movie bunches of times. That was my point of making this thread It was alot of stuff in there that was 2 modern for the movie 2 have been set in the 1920's. Well I've heard numerous of times that this movie was set in the 1920's but from most of your post I'm being presented the supposed obvious that it wasn't!

OK. yes, agreed sometimes people say it was set in the 20s but they're just plain wrong. In fact I've even read reviews saying that, but that's plain lazy journalism. All the things I stated above were intentionally in the movie. They never tried to pretend it actually was the 30s and made mistakes. I guess black and white mixed with a few items of art deco furnishings were too confusing for some viewers...

You go girl! (or boy) I hate when people come on a thread a make some random negative comment.

Anyhoo, I think that someone else answered why Cherry Moon is so screwed up. It wasn't meant to be set in the 20's. I used to think that also when I was younger. I was like, If P and Jerome were running around with all those white women back in the day, their asses would have been strung up somwhere. lol

I luv that movie though. It's screwy but it's the best and funniest movie that P has made IMHO.

falloff

I'm a girl! Thanks, that's all I was saying. For a movie that was supposedly made in the 1920's the mess Chris & Tricky were pulling was nutty but hilarious!
