I've never burned Prince CD's for my friends, but...

Let 'em spend their money if they like his music...but, with him giving
away his CD in Europe, I figure, shit, I might as well burn a few copies
for my friends too...

Is this wrong? Is I'm right? hmm
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

He is selling the CD here in America, not giving it away. So Prince would probably disapprove of what you're doing, and I do think it's against the law.

You can make the argument that you're exposing him to a wider audience, but I think his response would be that's his job, not yours.

Is it against the law if I give it away??? I thought it was only if I tried to sell it to someone else...
I usually have a moral issue about giving his music away (only his, because he is the only artist I respect - everyone else is a sideshow), but, if he's giving it away...therein lies the quandry...

It can't be morally wrong to try to get people to become fans confused

by that argument, though, it is the FBI's responsibility to enforce the illegal copying of copyrighted material law, not yours. buring cd's may be illegal, but it is a common practice that you really have no threat of getting in trouble with the law for, so burn away.

you really don't have a moral issue with it then, simply an issue of convenience. morals are absolute, and it is the act that woul dbe morally wrong, not whose music it is. your position of moral righteousness only reveals your own hypocrisy. soory, but that is a fact.

Serena

Personally, I NEVER pirate his official releases, I buy extra copies to give away. He gave it away only in the U.K., so don't use that to justify YOU giving it to others not over there.
