I've never burned Prince CD's for my friends, but... Let 'em spend their money if they like his music...but, with him giving
away his CD in Europe, I figure, shit, I might as well burn a few copies for my friends too... Is this wrong? Is I'm right? Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

So Prince would probably disapprove of what you're doing, and I do think it's against the law. You can make the argument that you're exposing him to a wider audience, but I think his response would be that's his job, not yours.

I thought it was only if I tried to sell it to someone else... I usually have a moral issue about giving his music away (only his, because he is the only artist I respect - everyone else is a sideshow), but, if he's giving it away...therein lies the quandry... It can't be morally wrong to try to get people to become fans

You can make the argument that you're exposing him to a wider audience, but I think his response would be that's his job, not yours. by that argument, though, it is the FBI's responsibility to enforce the illegal copying of copyrighted material law, not yours. buring cd's may be illegal, but it is a common practice that you really have no threat of getting in trouble with the law for, so burn away. this message brought to you by logic.

Personally, I NEVER pirate his official releases, I buy extra copies to give away. He gave it away only in the U.K., so don't use that to justify YOU giving it to others not over there.

Target has it on sale this week for $9.98. The cover sold me.

I brought my copy at Target for that price also! Then I deleted the shared files off my ipod and replaced them with my CD files...you know, in case the FBI stop by my house!! I'm Serious!
