I recently found out that princes mother was black and that he isnt mixed race. Not that im bothered if hes black or white but why would you lie about being mixed race. on one hand I can understand if hes marketed as being mixed race he might appeal to a larger audience like when in the film purple rain his mother is portrayed as being white so if it was just done for buisiness reasons I can see why the music company would encourage it, but I was reading a book about prince recently when I came across this quote from rick james with whom prince toured in 1980 "Prince is a mentally disturbed young man, what worries me is that so many people relate to him as a representative of black america. He doesnt even want to be black". What do you think?
