Sign 'O' The Times (the song) Pt 2

The first Sign 'O' The Times was a BluePrint for what a Social Conscious song should be. He acknowledges and sheds light on issues and current events 'Of The Times'. In an artistic way, with one song, he shows us his incredible/ingenius way of; Interpreting his environment through art (artistic means)...

Hurricane Annie
Gang Violence
Aids
Drug Use
Governmental Priorities
Purpose of Life
Poverty

In your opinion...if he were to do a 'Sign 'O' The Times Pt2'...what would he include for the new Millenium (considering we have a whole new set of issues/current events...?

September 11th 2001
Columbine (and similar tragedies in schools)
Oklahoma City Bombings
George W. (and his famous 'fair' election)
The rise of Materialism in Music (Bling* Bling*)
The 'lack of' Love 4 One Another

Surely he's change since the first Sign O, he has a new-found way of life and religion, and he's 'Free'. I actually believe that would make a Second Sign O The Times, more critical, more specific, mo betta'

The song like others from the 2 Disc album was a glimpse into Prince's mind (or world view). I would sure like to take a peak now...

The Blue Prince music
"Sign 'O' The Times mess with your mind. Hurry before it's too late...Let's fall in Love, get married, have a baby...
we'll call him Nate...if it's a boy..."

Times...times

I do think that there are some pertnniant things of today that can be added as you state, but the original SOTT subject matter is just as prevelant and important today and the song is timeless as many said about it in the following years ( subject matter ). It is his own Whats Goin On? ala Marvyn...both are songs about the state of the world through pessimistic eyes, with subject matter that is just as important today as it was when originally written. What would be a trip is doing a reverse SOTT--a song about right here right now, and whats good about it. Pffft..I guess that would be some Sly Stone sixties hippy chick, I mean shit.

Yeah you're right. The song has lasting power both musically and lyrically. I guess this is coming from him being so quiet about current events lately. I know it got old quick; but every famous musician had something to say about 9-11. P was rather silent. Not to minimize the tragedy at all, but that was an oppurtunity for him to show the world that he's still around, and still writing music. It was almost another "We Are The World" no shows...

To me "Dance On" was SOTT Part 2.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yes, I did fail to mention other countries. They have issues as well. America is actually the root of some of these problems...

Help me out Unremarkable...what other issues do you believe would/should be included...
