My fave is Family Name. Those drums...THAT bass! 3 funky...

When I copped the album last year that was the one track that I couldn't stop playing if I didn't have time to listen to the whole album!

Strange, but Last December is the only track on the album that I don't really care for. I think the LP would have been stronger if it had ended with the funk blowout of Everlasting Now. By the way... at the end of Everlasting Now does somebody say "What The Fuck, I'm Out"? Sounds like that to me!

Peace

Have to agree with ya there, best track by a mile. Probably the only song on the album that deals with a real issue that doesn't come across as heavy handed or preachy It's as funky as hell. Prince has obviously been listening to copies Of Stand and There's A Riot Going On as he cut this.

Without doubt- It's gotta be The Wedding Feast [Maybe not!]

No, it has to be 1+1+1=3, simply for the speeded up guitar solo that amazes me evertyime, though Last December is up there with it.

No ones mentioned the Work, or have they?! Strange that he chose to release that track then...

Anyway, my favourite is Everywhere. Can you imagine those African roots being brought alive in a cool video shot in Jamaica with a bevvy of beauties (in a church) and Prince as the organ playa lol

Tho if I absolutely HAD to pick one, I'd go for Family Name.
There's just so much going on. The intro with the incredible
bass going on behind those words. The song, the bridge. The
SPIT. the solo. The T.J. and the Akashik records reference.

And the "No. Noo-oo-oo-oo--oo-oo---oo---oo" scream.

Dude, that part where he spits is great! "Hwawwwk. Spthtt. *Guitar Solo*"

I'd have to pick...1+1+1=3
Every time I play the CD, I back that one up for seconds!!!
So...how's everybody doing? smile

eye could take or leave TRC...
went 2 the ONA concert, sat n the FRONT ROW...
Prince, blew my brains out with EVERLASTINGNOW...the rest is a blur.

there was truly a HOUSEQUAKE that nite...sometimes eye just stood there and was lifted 2-3 inches off the floor from the thumping feet of the dancing ppl.
eye was b ing danced, but it was even wilder when eye danced 2!

don't let ppl tell u Prince don't dance no mo...the man can't b still when the groove hits him! EVERLASTINGNOW, WILL MAKE U SHAKE UR PANTS!

eye still don't own TRC, just have a cassette dub...ask me if eye play it 2 death, just 2 relive that xperience over and over?
eye am so waiting 4 that box set Prince is sending!
not many artist's music can make u wanna party by urself!

after ONA...u ain't gonna care what yo' family name is...watch and c!

I'd have to go with Last December

though I really like 1+1+1 is 3 and Digital Garden too.
It's a shame Digital Garden is only really a segue, I
would have loved to hear that melody expanded into a
full fledged song.

definitely Everlasting Now - it's so powerful and funky... I love it

but of course I really like the rest of the songs.

However I don't really care for instrumentals. Prince is not really too good at them - an instrumental does require more than a nice melody - I think this important ingredient is simply called "development". Proves (to me) how much his voice adds to his productions.

ok, enough of this... but TRC is really a great album. I appreciate it more and more.

I've said this before but I truly feel that the title track with the intsrumental tacked on at the end is the best, most musical piece of work he's ever put on record.

There isn't much I don't like on TRC but the standouts other than the opener are The Sensual Everafter,Family Name and most of Everlasting Now.
