"desire" appreciation thread

what a pretty song this is. p's version i mean.he should have kept this 1 for himself. it could have been a hit for atwiad or parade. the words are real nice all about sex getting in the way of things i think. the beat is real quick. kind of a funky love song, i like it. eric leeds kills on 2 solos almost as good as his ones on "hot thing". i wouldn't spend $50 or more to hear the family's version. it's probably not as good as prince's anyways. this is quickly becoming my new favorite. best line ever:"you're saving your love for some soldier. who'd much rather die than stay by your side. if you only knew."
For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Absolutely without a doubt one of Prince's very top shelf songs. It makes me feel like no other song does. It would've been perfect on the first half of Parade. It's one I really wish he'd kept for himself. The synth harp hook makes the song for me. Perfection.

Just one? I can name a few others on that album. The instrumentals, for starters. They get overlooked alot while they are, in fact, the first Madhouse tracks.

Love that song. Really, really love it. Wish he'd kept it. Wish he'd kept most of that album, actually.

No, not just one. And I'm grateful to have his versions. But I really think it would've been great on one of his main releases or at least a b-side.

I also would love to hear his studio version for Bedtime Story. I think that started as a The Family song.

I dunno why, but listening to this song to me is the aural equivalent of sucking on a watermelon Jolly Rancher while making out. It just is.

Did Prince actually record this song, or R U guys talking about a live version you heard him perform? Just curious!

I loved this song, I used to have it in the eighties, ona cassette with Mutiny on it.
Alas, I lost it along the way sad

The line, "Saving your love 4 some soldier, who'd much rather die than lie in your arms", may well be princes' most haunting lyric.

I need to get hold of it again

I think it has a Springsteen kind of vibe. Very intense, different sounding song for Prince. Definitely one my favorites of the unreleased tracks.
