im 34 now-bought it when 14 and i still love it-genuinly"love"it

to me it staggers my imagination that one man had such a breadth of vision and musical genius to create this masterpiece.

if only i could meet a woman like parade!

and yeah....still lovin the film

thats why i cant stand the whiny bullshit i read on this site -He gave me PARADE! and for that mr.prince-i have your back forever wink

Never liked it upon its release, but now is one of my very favorites. Something like "Chrisopher Tracy's Parade" seemed "weird" to me, but now that song is one of my favorites.

Ironically, although it's not bad, my least favorite song on Parade is "Kiss."

Great as is, but too bad Love or Money and Alex de Paris (maybe as part of an extended instrumental suit) weren't included.

Likewise, I meant to type "say" not "day." I really should proofread more before posting.

One of the untouchables. Pure avant-garde Funk D'Azure as I call it. Girls and boys/Mountains/Anotherlover/sometimes it snows/new position/life can be so nice....the album is classic and original and very Prince. Also loved the stylish cover art, the singles all with quite fab extended versions is gerat b-sides.

Parade is quite genius really.

It's pretty much my favourite album, I love it, it's gorgeous and everytime I hear it I find new depths and meanings. For example today I realised I've been wrong about my favourite line of Girls and Boys for over 10 years, it really sounded like "she had the cutest eyes he'd ever seen".

The worst thing? I'm not kidding, but hey I'm the woman who didn't realise Little Red Corvette was about a car until she was 24.
I'm looking out for a purple dolphin.

I fell in love with that album from day 1 (also in my teen years). The music is heaven and Prince's looks too (but mot as good as in the Purple Rain period horny ).

Mountains, enough said.

Seriously though, Mountains is one of my favorite prince songs, and to have that among all the others is just amazing.

Truly an album where there are no down moments listening to the whole album. At first, I always kind of cringed at Life Could be So Nice or I Wonder U, but now love them.

Parade is conceptual, and is cohesive even though the styles of music within are pretty disparate.

Also, great b-sides and extended lenghths from this album.

But, would we rate this above SOTT or Purple Rain, or 1999 as Prince's greatest? (I now, they are all great, and we don't have to choose, just play along). I probably would.

I love listening to this album, it always picks me up.

I can sing along from start to finish (well mostly) with a feeling of wellbeing.

Keen to find some 12" versions though, some song finish too soon and I have to repeat them.
oh mama I wish I could resist ...

Well, there were 3, and all classic. Kiss / Anotherloverholenyohead / Mountains. The other single released in the UK was Girls and Boys but never had an extended version.

Kiss is now on the Ultimate CD, but the other two are only on 12" vinyl but you can still probably find them. And, you need Mountains 12" for Alexa de Paris and you still need the Kiss 12" vinyl for the full Love or $, both absolutely classic B-sides.
In this digital age it's just inexplicable why you can't just legally purchase and download good quality mp3s of this stuff from itunes!

I downloaded Mountains extended off of Limewire (it comes and goes from). I know, I know, support the artist. Believe me, if I could have found it on CD or found a legal download, I would have, no question. I searched ebay and amazon, but could never find it.

I found Alexa de Paris on the "Letitgo" maxi single, which I purchased off of ebay. This should be easier to find.

Still looking for extened Anotherlovenholenyohead extended.

But, most importantly, I really want to get "Love or Money." I wish I had the money to buy a great stereo system with a turntable. I see Prince vinyl full length albums and 12 inch singles all the time.

yeah Parade deserves a monthly appreciation thread. a true album, but like it's been said, still quite diverse. flows really well.

the backgroud vocals on anotherlover are sublime
i LOVE the way G&Bs blends right into LCBSN
sometimes it snows is just classic. major curveball for P at the time

just great, great. didn't realize it then, but now its undisputedly one of his best, don't know how it was reviewed at the time, but i'm sure anyone who reviewed unfavorably would recant now.

Put on Do U Lie? on headphones.

It is the song I always use as example when I want to show peeps how well Prince's voice with female backingvox.

A jewel, it doesn't get enough love.

oh yeah, I forgot about that! Thanks for reminding me I actually have it smile
I hear you about the downloads. For me downloading is not about trying to get music for free, it's about trying to find songs which are otherwise unavailable or selling for ridiculous amounts on ebay which the artist gets zilch from anyway.
Love or Money: Such a good song expecially full version, how it's been ignored all this time I don't understand. It should have been on Parade from the start!

I love this album too.
My favourite song on it is 'Under the cherry moon' but I do have a soft spot for 'I wonder U'
Of course I'll undress in front of U!
Listen, 4 U naked I would dance a ballet
Would that get U off?

What can I say that hasn't already been said? It's damn near perfect and for me the very pinacle of Prince's creative output then, sitting alongside 1999.

The album is cohesive, but every song is individual - the whole thing is an adventure and a rollercoaster. My favourite moments are the explosive joyousness of the opening track, the insular, hypnotic erotica of I Wonder U, the bombastic cacophony of Life Can Be So Nice, and sumptuous Do U Lie?

Every track is a joy, no track outstays it's welcome, everything is it's own thing, but part of a whole.

I can gush for days about it! lol cool

it is a great album imo but it has its faults....prince didnt like it that much myself after he released it..it has weak tracks like ' i wonder u ' that all prince albums have....even my favourite album of all time 'sign o the times ' has tracks like 'it ' that i am not fond of but overall it is a brilliant album...
