Hi,

I just saw that Rhino will re-release the 12inch of some Prince singles, presumably the UK versions. Does anybody know anything about this (release date apparently 30th of June).

I presume they are not remastered or anything?

When I am in the UK next month, I will certainly add a couple to my shopping list, as my old ones have been played to death...

They've been released digitally too.

It is just so nice, taking the record out from the shelf, looking at the cover, carefully placing thje disc on the player, looking at the label, adjusting the speed (33/45). Call me a haptic person, but I do like this...

I would of course also by CDs if it is remastered stuff

No. Several 12" singles have been re-released in the UK, and digitally, internationally, through stores line iTunes.

The coice of singles is lacklustre to be sure, but it's most of the well-known singles, presumably released to coincide with the UK tour. So should be a good purchase for casual fans, or those who don't already have the vinyl. (HMV are running them at 3 for a tenner).

is there anything online about these 12" singles? i checked the rhino site and came up with nothing.

So I checked the HMV site and they do have them listed. But, shipping on the set of them was going to cost as much if not more than the albums themselves.

Has anyone downloaded these? I'm curious to know if anyone can confirm that they are at least taken from a master and not from a boot or record. Are they worth downloading if you already have a copy ripped from the original records?

The dissapointing but not surprising. Here Prince releases some music actually worth hearing, albeit twenty years old, and the audio is sub-par. I'm sure he had little, if anything, to do with the releases, yet it's a pity they didn't give these a proper shine and polish and not rush them out to cash in on his pending UK performances.
