He has done more creatively and artistically then most artists could only dream of doing in ten lifetimes. He's in the freakin' Hall of Fame. And I'm just talking studio. Live is a whole other story. So if you're done with him, why don't you jump on the JT bandwagon or something. I'm sure he has some Rolling Stones covers you can start collecting. Wow, you're really clueless - Prince has NEVER had to prove ANYTHING to ANYBODY at ANY time. The issue is that we KNOW that he can still break out great performances so why can't he do it on an album? Having experimented creatively and artistically in the past doesn't mean you can go to bed and turn out albums like P's doing now. If the creativity has gone, if his inspiration for albums is gone (and it certainly seems so since the last 3 albums have been from the same mold), why put out more? Why not wait until the inspiration comes back? Listen, really LISTEN, to his voice on this album - there is no longer any passion. The passion only appears LIVE and that's what he should do then, for his own peace of mind - NOT to prove anything to anybody. As for JT, he's got more passion in one line of one of his songs NOW than Prince does NOW. It's all about NOW, not what was before. I'm listening, really listening to this album and I hear a lot of passion in his voice. I hear it in each and every track. JT may be cool with the kids right now, but I laugh at anyone trying to compare him to a legend like Prince. Prince is untoucheable! If anything, besides the passion, it just sounds like he's having a little more fun with his music these days. He just seems very comfortable right now with himself; and I totally mean that in a very good way. If he was going to push some more boundaries with his next project, I would welcome that. If not, clueless me would not be overly dissapointed. Not with the catalogue of his that I own; the one that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. I've got a guitar that can part the sea. | |

I've got tickets. I'm also reading The God Delusion. Planet Earth ain't exactly "For The Tears In Your Eyes", bcuz the event was stupid in the first place. And much as I'd love to jam with P at the aftershow, i'd probably puke on his Hohner from sheer nerves... so um and indeed er....
Cargo Cult, anybody? | |

Chelsea Rodgers was of course an instant classic for me; I loved Somewhere Here On Earth and Future Baby Mama on first listen as well. All great songs! But check this out...I hated 'All The Midnights' and I thought about it...is thisa song so unlike any Prince song I had ever heard? No. Then 'Starfish And Coffee' came to mind. Now I can't stop putting 'Midnights' on repeat, great harmonies. I'm an old school hardcore fan of Prince...I've been through the ups and downs. It took me a while to absorb some of Prince greatest albums..Purple Rain for example. But after a few listens I have found the gems in all of Princes releases, Planet Earth is no exception. And though I have a excellent version of the album right now....I be in the store getting my real release of Planet Earth.
