Planet Earth? "blah"

For the first time in 25 years, of being a HUGE prince fan I can honestly say Prince has bored me. I never have high expectations when it comes to new Prince albums anymore. Let's be honest how long can Prince continue to write new and great material. Now let me preface this by stating that Musicology is a very good album, and 3121 is a good album. But when I listen to Planet Earth, I cannot help but feel that his latest effort is "blah".

There is no feeling to most of the songs and nothing catchy or rememberable. The last part is the big thing. When I get done listening to a song on Planet Earth, I cannot remember anything about it.

Ironically enough, I don't find any of the songs bad, just "eh". There's just nothing there.

The album has a couple of bright sport though, the previously released "Guitar" and "The One U Wanna C". Both are catchy and memorable, very Prince.

The title track seems very fake emotionally and flat. A very strange choice for the first track of the album.

Chelsea Rodgers is a 70's disco leftover, sounds nothing like Prince. It actually sounds like Prince trying to be someone else.

All the other tracks you can file under "blah" or "eh" either way I can see why it was free in the UK.

Do us all a favor and re-record unreleased classics like "Moonbeam Levels" or "All My Dreams" for your next album. Please! Before even you die-hard fans give up on you.

First, I don't NEED to support him. Second, I never called it bad. In fact I stated that explicitly. it's just there, nothing special.

I think Prince relies on the fact people state he's a genius, and has no fire inside him when it comes to WRITING. performing, He's still the BEST.
