Planet Earth Chart Action Begins On Billboard...

Prince has begun to see his first American chart action from Planet Earth. "Future Baby Mama" is the highest new entry on this week's R&B chart, debuting at number 59. It's his highest debut there since 1999, when "1999" re-entered for one week at number 45. It's already a bigger hit than anything from 3121. "Te Amo Corazon" peaked at number 67, "Black Sweat" at number 82, and "Satisfied" at number 70. The album itself will debut in two weeks.

I think it creeped up the charts gradually. I guess they're saying this debuted higher than anything since 1999, and bigger than anything from 3121 period.

That rings a bell, thanks. I do agree that he needs to get a video out and a little BET action or something.

Doubt his videos will get played by music channels since they haven't been kind to him since TMBGITW so all Im hoping for is some Leno, Letterman, Oprah or some tv show appearance to hype the album.

EXCUSE ME: Prince's Music Videos have always been in rotation on MTV, BET, & VH1.

Musicology -HEAVY ROTATION (MTV, BET, VH1)

Call My Name -HEAVY ROTATION (BET, VH1, VH1 SOUL)

CINNAMON GIRL -(MTV U)

TE AMO CORAZON -HEAVY ROTATION (BET, VH1, VH1 SOUL SPOTLIGHT)

BLACKSWEAT -HEAVY ROTATION (BET, VH1, VH1 SOUL SPOTLIGHT, MTV, MTV HITS, MTV U)

FURY (VH1 SOUL SPOTLIGHT)

So there has been Video airplay for Prince since 1994's TMBGIW

Because of this airplay, albums like Musicology and 3121, got attention and sold more because of that, especially "3121", because "Blacksweat" was played often and alot of ppl got the chance to hear and see the song. Since radio was dead on it!

Absolutely! Everything you said was on the money. Solid to heavy video airplay has been one of the ways that Prince has gotten around sporadic radio airplay.
