46th album? I'm assuming they mean including side-projects? Can we get a list together?

My bad... someone's already done this... BUT... surely some of the suggested titles are in question? The Hits/B-sides that was one release and C-Note, etc were off the interweb... what's the actual total if you DO include all the side projects?

Seriously, I see a different number of albums in every article.
01. 1978 - Prince: For You 02. 1979 - Prince: Prince 03. 1980 - Prince: Dirty Mind 04. 1981 - Prince: Controversy 05. 1982 - Prince & The Revolution - 1999 06. 1984 - Prince & The Revolution - Purple Rain 07. 1985 - Prince & The Revolution - Around The World In A Day 08. 1986 - Prince & The Revolution - Parade 09. 1987 - Prince: Sign O' The Times 10. 1988 - Prince: Lovesexy 11. 1989 - Prince: Batman: Motion Picture Soundtrack 12. 1990 - Prince: Graffiti Bridge 13. 1991 - Prince & The New Power Generation: Diamonds & Pearls 14. 1992 - Prince & The New Power Generation: 15. 1993 - Prince: The Hits/B-Sides 16. 1994 - Prince: Come 17. 1994 - Prince: The Black Album 18. 1995 - : The Gold Experience 19. 1996 - Prince: Girl 6 Motion Picture Soundtrack 20. 1996 - : Chaos & Disorder 21. 1996 - : Emancipation 22. 1998 - : Crystal Ball / The Truth / Kamasutra 23. 1999 - Prince: The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale 24. 1999 - : Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic 25. 2000 - : Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic 26. 2001 - Prince: The Rainbow Children 27. 2001 - Prince: The Very Best Of Prince 28. 2002 - Prince: One Night Alone 29. 2002 - Prince: One Night Alone Live 30. 2003 - Prince: Xpectation 31. 2003 - Prince: C-Note 32. 2003 - Prince: N.E.W.S. 33. 2004 - Prince: Musicology 34. 2004 - Prince: The Slaughterhouse 35. 2004 - Prince: The Chocolate Invasion 36. 2006 - Prince: 3121 37. 2006 - Ultimate Prince (2CD) 38. 2007 - Planet Earth That's 38. Including separate discs of CB, ONA, Ultimate Prince, Hits/B-Sides the total comes to 49. Guessing that they probably included NPS, that's 50. Add to that the major protege releases written all or predominently by Prince: 1981 - The Time: The Time 1982 - Vanity 6: Vanity 6 1982 - The Time: What Time Is It? 1984 - Sheila E: - in The Glamorous Life 1984 - The Time: Ice-Cream Castles 1984 - Apollonia 6: Apollonia 6 1985 - The Family: The Family 1985 - Sheila E: in Romance 1600 1987 - Madhouse: 8 1987 - Jill Jones: Jill Jones 1987 - Madhouse: 16 1993 - Carmen Electra: Carmen Electra 1993 - The New Power Generation: Gold Nigga 1994 - Various Artists: 1800-NEW-FUNK 1995 - Mayte: Children Of The Sun 1995 - The New Power Generation: Exodus 1997 - The New Power Generation: New Power Soul That comes to 66. And I'm being strict there by not including stuff that's only half written by Prince like Ingrid Chavez, Mavis, Sheila's third album etc, I've probably missed a couple too. Praise the Lord for cut and paste.

Thanks. That's a lot of stuff, isn't it? The only one I'd question is the 2nd Rave entry... surely the Rave In2 album should come under the EP category, like the Cream EP which was a near album in itself too?

Yeah, maybe. I wouldn't include C-Note personally, but I know it's considered an album. I do think these music journalists just pluck a number out of thin air.

I would remove Rave In2 (just a special edition of Rave Un2), add It Ain't Over, The Truth, Kamasutra as separate entries. Newpower Soul maybe.
Still don't know how they came up with 46 though.

Extremely thin air, certainly. The output of this man is insane. More insane is the fact that I've spent goodness knows how much money accumulating nearly all of those releases.

I'm almost postive that NewPower Soul would be looked at as a Prince release, even though it's credited to NPG. It's not like Prince is in the background on that one.

Here's a slightly different cut and paste. Feel free to correct or explode all over that which you disagree with.
