Prince king of black rock artists.

You know before Michael Jackson and Prince the african-american music scae was pretty much he same. R&B,Blues,Funk, and Gospel. Then Prince comes along and alot of people don't know want to make of him.

He crosses many music style smostly, sould, funk, and rock. Not only is he mentally and visualy a collage but so is his music. But withthat you would think that he would have kicked down the doors for alot of black rock artists.
Still the only ones during the Purple Rain era to get exposure on TV where Michael Jackson,Tina, Turner, Rick James,Bootsy Collins and Prince. Sure alot of black ppl would have a problem with it but I know other races woul d dig it.
If you watch Mtv you would think ROck is only for white people and Hip Hop for blacks. Go to many concerts and you'll see people of every clor. Yet some 20 years later the only black rocker being played is Lenny Kravitz.

It's due largely to the problem that alot of black youth will only listen to Hip Hop. This greatly hurts sales. O lnow in the last 01 years there's been a huge shift in black culture. More and more young blacks are not speaking ebonics and speaking more like someone from The Valley. Now I assume some musical intrests have changed with it. Perhaps enough that we could hav a more culturedmore diverse black music scene.

If this happen my only question will they include Prince. Hes' been largely ignored by the media and corporate community. WHatever I just hope they know Prince can't be duplicated. With record sales plumeting they'd better try something else.

King of all artists as far as I'm concerned.

I seriously think this. Years after he's passed, people will still rave over his material.

I love that man.

Thank you. Give me a break.

(there was a great thread less than a year ago about Prince vs. Jimi).

A lot of Prince's rock persona is Jimi mimicry anyway.

(and I remember that everytime I see him licking or thrusting on a guitar ... or wearing purple ... or wearing a bandana ...or ...

Well Prince basically dresses like Jimmi.

But unless you are high you'd know Jimmi wasn't around anywhere near the Mtv era.

You could say Michael was the next James Brown and Prince Hendrix. Can you imagine Prince having to compete with Jimmi? Wonder whata Hendrix video would look like.

Prince,Lenny Kravits, and George Clinton are friends. It's so suprising that Prince and Rick James didn't get along. They were of a handful of black guitarists. But Prince mixes rock with soul. Are there any pure rock songs on any of his albums?
