Do you like segues? Personally I don't care much for segues as I play most albums on shuffle.
Which one of you orgers does like them? And what is the best one in your opinion?

I don't like them cuz they make the albums less enjoyable.
And real rock'n'roll (or any kind of) albums don't need talkin' shit between the tracks. Music speaks for itself - we don't need Darth Vader to tell us what's going on... PS: I don't mind musical intermezzos tho'... [Edited 7/18/07 7:00am]

What about the ones on Come? I know those aren't seperated tracks but hey! those are at least super short and kinda acceptable. when there are stupid little comedy skits or rants or whatnot, it totally ruins the flow of the album for me.

May "Orgasm" be considered as a "segue"?
If so then it's my favourite segue but only for the guitar solo lifted from Private Joy...

Depends, on something like De La Souls "Three Feet High And Rising" it adds to the overall cd.

No, and I also don't like sound effects added to explain what lyrics are supposed to mean.

You must love the album version of The Most Beautiful Girl In The World then. I don't *hate* segues but most of them - especially with an artist like Janet Jackson - are pretty pointless. Add them all together and that's a short little masterpiece you could've added to the album. (I'm talking Prince here, obviously, not JJ ).

I can not stand the Darth Vader voice on The Rainbow Children.
However, I do like the tribute to Miles Davis segue before Man O'War on Rave. It flows beautifully into it.

Do you think he actually recorded silence for 4 seconds or whether it's just a gap on the cd?

Probably there's a mess on your copy. The official tracklist are: ... The Greatest Romance Ever Sold Segue (4 seconds of silence - 4 Miles) Hot Wit U ... Everyday Is A Winding Road Segue (NPG Orchestra -> you're talking about this tho' this isn't the Miles tribute) Man 'O' War ...

Yes, he recorded the silence indeed! Have you seen the unreleased liner notes of the segue? Mayte: Spanish vibe Prince: Whatever [Edited 7/19/07 13:43pm]

I love the NPG Orchestra segue then lol. Thanks.

The only time I've ever appreciated them were on Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814. I thought they worked very well there and made that album a cohesive listen and an album rather than a collection of singles.
The only problem is that Janet must have fallen in love with segues because she's abused them ever since. Now they are a trademark of her albums and consistently one of the worst things about them. Just because it works once doesn't mean it works ever time. I get the point of the whole Kirstie Alley gimmick Prince used back then, but it didn't make the album BETTER. Keith/Kacey

You like Environmental Records? Birds Chirping, Crickets and shit like that? They say it's supposed to make you horny. It just make me fall asleep.
