More like "New Power Shit". Hell, I'd rather hear dull artsy/fartsy shit like "Venus De Milo" or "Do U Lie" than the shit hop on "New Power Shit".

"Come On" is better wicked Prince than anything on Rave, Musicology, or Rainbow Children!

"Rave" had the good title track. "Musicology" had the title track, "Cinnamon Girl", and "A Million Days", and "The Rainbow Children" had "1 + 1 + 1 is 3".

"Come On" was midtempo and sounded kinda shit hoppish and I despise anything that resembles shit hop in the slightest. I'd listen to Shitney Houston before I'd listen to shit hop. lol

Someone said something interesting, this is not a classic album but it does have some classic songs. The great thing about Prince is that he has so many albums that every once in a while you pick up one you haven't listened to in a while (or more or less forgotten) and it is pleasant. Wasted Kisses is great, but why on earth is it a hidden / bonus track?

neither Rave nor Musiclogy have the wicked funky Prince feel (Rave's vocals come close), CINNAMON GIRL sucks!, as does Million!

Rainbow children musically is tired old jazz like Dream of the BLue Turtles (only the slow voice and conceptual lyrics raise it above some tired jazz gospel retro jam), and 1+1 is prince ripping himself off in a generic way.

Come On is better than all of them and also qualifies as a camille song with it's sexual orient and slightly speeded up voice. It's in the same mind set as Erotic City, or Shockadelica, or Scarlet Pussy. It is too cool. Dunno what you mean by midtempo, tons of cool prince doesn't have to have some fast dance beat... think about If I Was Your Girlfriend.

I'm a defender of 'NewPowerSoul'

What a GREAT and FUNKY record! New Power Soul is KILLER!!

I remember when buying the cd the 1st day it came out in'98...opened it up and turned the volume up high to the title track!

It was summer and it was a JAM! Each song just kept the flow and PRINCE surprised me again with another excellent album.

The production is good, the sounds and things going on all around your ears (listen close to the cd again) just make it a pleasure.

In fact, the remix singles were also added sweet cream to the '98 mix. Then he toured and hearing the NPS Jams live was magical.

I remember living in LA waiting in line for tickets to various shows and fans were jamming the NPS cd and jamming it LOUD! "Come On", "I Like Funky Music", "Mad Sex" were being sung and danced to in the lines by all and EVERYONE was having a good time to the music.

And that is what it's all about when it comes to Prince music..."the emotion" whether it's fun, thought provoking or shared.

PRINCE and his New Power Soul RAWK!
Have a nice day. cool

Hell Fucking Yeah, Man....Well Said!!! Bravo! Bravo!

....AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!!!

So true!

'Come On' is total Camille, whether or not it's credited to Prince, The N.P.G. or whomever.

I've always loved it so I've never understood what the big problem with it was except for those who wanted a more rock sound.

Something about the beat and the tempo just screeeamed "slow, sexual grinding". It drips sweet amber-kissed honey into the listener's ears...

Damn that is a perfect description. "The One" has always been my jam on that album.

Its really a good little album , as has already been said theres nothing really offensively bad on there a a life of the party , no lame ballads like satisfied or on the couch , and I'd say that Come On and The One are as strong as anything on Musicology or 3121 . Its a fun party album which doesnt bore me or embarass me , when youre done you think , yeah , thats a fine record , it didnt change the world but it entertained me for an hour , wheres the harm in that biggrin
Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :
