"There is of the nobility in this Prince. Admittedly, its character has what to aggravate, by his escapades, his megalomania which has of equal only its small size, his effeminatized side macho, his taste of the kitsch, his "blows" marketing. But the animal is not gifted to only make speak about him. It has before all a true talent of musician. Attention, not of these autoproclamés or prefabricated artists who are satisfied to push the ditty on musics and texts written by others and already many times interpreted! Not, in his kind, Prince is a self-made man. Its first album, left in 1978 already, in full fever disco music, is completely made hand. The virtuoso then 20 years old did all itself there, of the guitar to the battery, while passing by the keyboards, the voice and the low one. It is about the only interest of this wafer, because its A rather badly out-of-date. Also let us pass on this pop sirupeuse of the eighties, this commercial "Purple Rain" to pack iron ores out of box just good. Because since good about fifteen years, Kid de Minneapolis carried out one surprising return to the sources. The endiablés grooves, intersected with solos hendrixiens, percussion coppers, long the impros funky, recall the best hours of the afro-American music of the last half-century. And prove that Prince is the worthy heir to the James Brown, George Clinton and other Sly Stone. It is to go to listen to this talent that some would be ready to sell father and mother. Because its scenic services, too rare in Europe, generally turn to the unslung festival"

long the impros funky

he should start saying this at aftershows. picture the scene: the band's just gone through 10 sweaty minutes of intense jamming. prince polishes off a blistering guitar solo. he mops his brow, and grins from ear to ear. then, he steps forward to the mic and says to the crowd: "LONG THE IMPROS FUNKY, Y'ALL! MMMM-HMMM!"

he could even have the crowd saying it as a new chant.

"LONG THE IMPROS FUNKY!"
"WHAT?"
"LONG THE IMPROS FUNKY!"
"CMON LONDON, SAY IT!"
"LONG THE IMPROS FUNKY!"
"OOOOH-WEEE!"
"LONG THE IMPROS FUNKY!"
"OHH!"

here is my translation from the http://www.24heures.ch/pa...nu)/108565 article in french.

Prince, a real phenomenom, with talent on top...

This Prince has noblety. Eventhough his persona could be annoying, because of his tricks, his megalomania whom only matches his small stature, his effeminate macho side, his taste for kitcsh, his marketing "blows".

But this animal not only has the talent to get spoken of. He has before anything a real musical talent. Beware, not such of autoprogramed and prefabricated artists who are content with just singing music and lyrics written by others and already heard too many times!

No, in his genra, Prince is a self made man. His first album, out in 1978, while in the midst of the disco fever was totally handmade. the virtuoso then 20 years old did everything on his own, from guitar to drums, through keyboards, voice and bass. It's about the only interest in the package, for the sound didn't age very well.

Let's pass on the pop'ish, syrup'ish of the eighties, the commercial "purple rain" just about good enough to score girls in clubs. Because for the last 15 years, the kid from minneapolis has made a surprising comeback to the roots.

The devilish grooves, intertwined with hendrix'like solos, horns and strong percussions, long funky improvisations, remind of the best hours of the afro american music of the past half century. And proves that Prince is the deserving heir of the james brown, george clinton, and other sly stones.

It is to go listen to this talent that some would sell mother and father. Because his stage performances, to rare in europe usually turn into a "let loose" party. Those can then say: "I was there!"

Hey, nice reviews, and very positive.

It says he asked for an American popcorn machine, colored napkins and he wouldn´t allow anybody to take pictures...and he didn´t allow them to use the big video screens, so that the people behind the fifth row couldn´t see anything. But all in all, an extremely positive review.
