Guitar on the Radio Charts/Sirius Rant

So what the fuck--we were all ranting and raving about how well it is going to do on radio...any1 heard it yet? Did it just die on the vine? Any updates?

And another thing, Satelite radio (namely Sirius which I own) really is nothing more than a regular radio without commercials and I am pissed!!

I remember a year ago, when I first got it (for Howard Stern mind you) and I was so happy. My radio has an alert feature which tells you when your favorite artist is on and it can jump to that station--cool right? And a year ago, I would hear obscure Prince (well more obscure than regular radio) like Do Me Baby and even It Ain't Over from One Night Alone Live!

Well now every time my Sirius alerts me it is the same fucking three songs: 1999, Raspberry Beret, and When Doves Cry. Sometimes Let's Go Crazy or Purple Rain comes on but you see my point.

Why have satelite radio with over 100 stations if all I am going to fucking hear is shit I could here on KIIS FM or STAR 98.7!?!? If it weren't for Howard Stern I would be fucking GONE from paying 10 bucks a month to hear top 40 Prince. I paid 9.99 for the greatest hits CD, I may as well put that crap on and save my subscription money for the other 11 months.

Play Guitar on satelite, play something from 3121, play some live shit--isn't that what an open format is for? To hear new music? I don't think payolla exists on Satelite and people are already paying who are listening so why would they have to only play hits?

Is anybody listening?

If anyone has any answers please pass them along because I am all ears yo fuse

In all likelihood you have all those songs in some format anyway (on your computer?) so you could listen to them anytime. If not, your best bet is to just download all P's albums off some torrent site and get itunes or something.

If all you're paying for now is no commercials, that sounds awful and I sure can't explain it.

I guess my point is that if Sirius can't play Guitar or for that matter any obscure Prince tunes then maybe the record labels really do have more control over the airwaves than we thought.

Why can't Guitar be played on satelite if all they have to answer to is the subscribers?

Is XM any different?

What I don't get is how one of the most prolific artists EVER does not have HIS OWN radio station on Sirius or XM? How many Satellite recievers would that sell? Has anyone ever polled the org on who 1) has satellite radio 2) does not have satellite radio 3) would change over if there was an all prince station?

For the record...
I have Sirius, 3 recievers, and would change to XM if they had an all Prince station.

PS: If prince is lurking on here I would be happy to program 4 hours a day for a nominal fee...One minute in the vault for every hour of programming seems fair.

PPS: Should this be a seperate post?

1. Why do you care if Guitar charts?

2. Why don't you just get and MP3 player--that way it can be #1 on your own private playlist. You can give it as much rotation as you want.

Haven't heard any of the new stuff on XM, but this morning on the way to work, they played The Glamorous Life, Uptown and eek Sugar Walls. lol
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
