HELP PLEASE: IS BURNING THE NPGMC MATERIAL TO DISC STILL POSSIBLE? hey folks
i've just discovered a big folder on my office pc on which i've stored all my npgmc downloads in top quality files. the thing is, i don't know if i can still burn this to cd, since the npgmc isn't up anymore and the files are coded. i can still listen to them on the computer, i'm doing so at this very moment. but when i just tried to convert some of those .wma files to mp3 the program said it was impossible since the files are encoded. Yeah, you should be able to burn the tracks to a CD using Windows Media Player.
There may have been a limit as to how many times you could burn the tracks though.

Which operating system is on the PC and which version of WMP is it? I'm running Windows XP with WMP 11. Mine has a little window you can just drag files to... If you're unsure of which version you're using, do a screen-grap and upload to TinyPic.com so I can have a look.

I should have added that the drag-and-drop "Burn" option is under the tab marked "Burn"...

argh, i can't really figure out what to do here. i burnt a disc in
wmp and the disc plays just fine on my pc or on the radio but when i try to rip the songs off the disc, all the files are the same in size and something really weird is happening. so i burnt the same disc with nero, which works just fine but then i can't rip the songs off that disc anymore and convert them to an mp3 format because it yells "files are protected cannot decode" all i ever wanted was to rip this encoded Glass Cutter file i have to MP3 format. but since the files are protected i thought i'd put them on a cd first, then upload the cd onto my pc again and rip the glass cutter song off there, and then convert it to mp3. but unlike some older discs i have (in poor quality alas) this cd still contains the license thing on the tracks. how can that be? i understand how it can be, but i don't really know how come the other cd's that were burnt of the same tracks don't have the code on them anymore. i can just rip those off the cd a gazillion times. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

But how were your earlier rips poorer quality if they're all the same files? Your second option would be this... http://www.hotdownload.us...taller.EXE Play each track in Windows Media Player and save as WAV files to your desktop. It's easier to set the recorder off first and then press play in WMP. Don't run any other programs whilst doing this, as it may cause the audio to stutter. Once you've saved each WAV file, you can open them in Audacity to trim the beginning and end.

actually i think i'd rather leave things as they are
i've got some pretty good quality npgmc stuff on my computer at home as well. the only thing i was really missing in good quality are songs silver tongue, glass cutter, magnificent, and united states of division. they're not crap or anything but they sound flat and dull. these downloads i have on this pc are the 320s and they seem to sound a bit better, although still, being downloaded from npgmc lol they sound flat. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

actually this raises an interesting point. Yes, no problem with the audio downloads, you can rip these to audio CD and thus have a permanent way to listen to them, BUT YOU CAN'T DO THAT WITH THE VIDEO PURCHASES! eg, the live performance of Question of You/the One. Whatever dvd authoring program you use you can put them on a DVD to watch on a DVD player. And with the web siter being down, you can't renew your licence should you migrate to a new PC.
I'd be very happy to be wrong here!

You can also use a program like WireTap to rip the track into another format. The file you currently have remains untouched during that process -- and you'll be able to import the track into iTunes or whatever you use. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
