HMV has re-releases of some Prince 12"s for Pre-Order

Just been browsing the HMV site and seen that they have a few old Prince classics available for 'Pre-Order'. All are due for release on 30th July and all are £3.99.

The 12" they are showing are -

Diamonds & Pearls
Sexy Mf
Gett Off
I Would Die 4 U
Purple Rain
Lets Go Crazy
Sign O The Times
When Doves Cry
Raspberry Beret
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Kiss

All to be released on Rhino Records (part of Warner)

I believe they work the same way as they always did - place them on one of those long forgotten turn-table/record player type things and watch 'em spin while Princely sounds emerge from your speakers!

Ahhhh glorious days!

There's 3 reasons why they still sell them... and why people still buy them:

1) To satisfy audio-heads - Vinyl sounds better than CD (of course, it depends on how you define 'better', but in theory they do have higher/lower frequency ranges)
2) For DJs to do their thing
3) For a nice collectors item

At the COED concert in Paris, the DJ was only playing 80's Prince stuff... because the poor girl couldn't have access 2 post 1990 material on vinyl...

DJ's can't play 90's & 00's Prince material, now THAT sucks!!!

best buy sells a turntable that plugs into your pc, thus you can record right into a music file--it's like $150..thinking about getting one, as i have a lot of good vinyl that hasn't made it to cd yet

2day, my friend, i'm gonna make u save a lot of money lol:

U plug a jack/rca from ur hi-fi turntable 2 ur ampli
U plus a jack/jack from the ampli 2 the computer

I c no reason why this wouldn't work, no need 2 spend 150 bucks!

Vinyl for real? Wow. So these 12" are more for the DJ set then? Too bad. I was hoping it was a special CD deal or something.

Right now I don't see myself plucking down $150 for a turntable, maybe, I do have some vinyls around here somewhere, use to have turntable but it suffered water damage sad If I had of known.

Thanks cool

I guess I'd fall in the third category. They must cost a fortune though.

Oh gawd, please no!! I'm trying to kick the obsessive collecting habit and now if these come out on a Rhino label, I'll HAVE to get them all.

Ahhh...who am I kidding, even if it wasn't a different label, I'd probably do it just so I knew I had brand spanking new copies! nuts

The choice could've been better, a lot of these will be the album versions (Purple Rain, WDC, SOTT, IWBYL)....
