No, it has nothing to do with a Prince song. Google "Jim Jones" and you will understand what the "Purple Kool-Aid " really means.
Jim Jones was a cult leader in the 70´s , and he made his followers drink poisoned Kool-Aid and they died, hence the term " Purple Kool-Aid " for fans / fams who accept anything Prince does without questioning him or his motives.
In a nutshell, this is the explanation you´re looking for. It was first used in either 2000 or 2001, maybe even in the late 90s during the Crystal Ball fiasco and the shutting down of fanwebsites.
Another often used comparison is Waco ( David Koresh, a musician and also a cult leader...google him too if you´re not familiar with Waco and Koresh). wink
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Side effects of the Purple Kool-Aid include the loss of one's senses of proportion and humor.

I guess what i find most absurd about the "Purple Koolaid" comments is the fact that the people who initially went to Jonestown to recover the dead bodies reported many of the dead bodies they saw had visible gunshot wounds.. Which is why I can't get down with the "koolaid" jokes not even in jest...
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.
