i dont see how this is in any way reminiscent of parade. it's reminiscent of chaos & disorder and the pop/rock crap on rave (so far so pleased, baby knows) if anything i would rather have so far so pleased and that's saying something man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Maybe it's the GirlBros factor? im talking about the song...not the album...the album is still a "meh" with me...and what girlbros factor? i haven't a clue which song they appear on nor am i overwhelmed with the backing vocals i think are theirs...its cool that they are there though. They're not even listed as doing any vocals but it sounds like they're there, maybe on this song even. Whoever's singing brings a nice lushness to the BG vox, I think. I like a little variety, sonically speaking. I'm liking the album, but it doesn't feel very big, same as 3121 & musicology. I think I like it better than them, but it remains to be seen if it will have any lasting impact (the other 2 didn't really, other than liking them for a couple months) My Legacy

This track is my favorite on the album! It's the only one that avoids sounding like a song (see my post on the main sticky). It does however have a "Willing And Able" vibe to it. Great song!

It's catchy, but I liked it better the first time I heard it when it was called "I Like It There"

Wendy plays guitar (electric too not just acoustic) on 5 tracks and Lisa plays piano/keys on another.

It's catchy and has a country-pop vibe, but it's probably the weakest song on the album, IMO. Too meandering for my taste! Check me out and add me on:

Heh. Good catch. You are correct, the verse melodies of the two songs are quite similar... mainly a two-note motif. The differences are that I Like It There's melody moves from flat-seventh to tonic while The One U Wanna See moves from third to fourth... the first is a whole-step jump while the latter is only a half-step. The chords underneath are also different: ILIT mirrors the melody with bVII to I chord progression while TOUWS is I to V. Both songs are similar bluesy feel, midtempo rock, with a laid-back, syncopated kick and rhythm guitar. Like I said, good catch -- I hadn't tied these two songs together until you mentioned it. "The One U Wanna See" is a better song and a much better recording. And I like "I Like It There"...

I'm not, but I play one on the message boards. I know the chord progression is different, but the opening vocals grabbed me right away in a way I knew they'd been grabbed before. My wife hears "When You Were Mine", and I do too. Can you break that out also?

Believe me I'm a huge Shania Twain fan and to compare this to something she might do is a slap in the face to Shania. *sarcasm alert*
This is a ridiculous comparison by any stretch of the imagination. This song is nothing like a Shania song or any other country song for that matter. Musically or lyrically. He is exactly who we thought he was

for me this is the standout track of the album. Just wondering about the
" every nickle in this club looking for a dime, nothing less, nothing more " - line. Is this is an existing english expression or one of those clever Prince one-liners?I tried searching the net but couldn';t come up with anything....

It´s funny how fan opinions are different when it comes to Prince´s music. I wonder if it happens the same way between Sting and Mc Cartney´s fans.
Well, I like this song. It´s catchy light rock and Prince does at least one song like this on several albums (I could never take the place of your man, Cinnamon Girl, etc). I liked the guitar effects. Does somebody know which effects are used?
