It's a fun feelgood song, I like it. Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday.

If Prince is looking for a commercial hit song then this is it.
It's catchy, corny and perfect for radio. The chorus get's in your head. Heck...even my Mum likes it ! But it's Prince so it won't be a single. I just can't believe all the things people say !

It's a cute lil' pop tune. Not one of my favorites, but it's well-crafted.

Horrible song....this album is a major disappointment. Sounds like an 8 year old wrote this song, not a 50 year old man.

I guess I could see where someone would call this an "immature" song, but I hear it more as "fun" rather than "dumb." I actually think this song works really well in nearly every regard -- even the lyrics, which I see a lot of people slamming. I don't know, sometimes goofy come-on songs work when done properly -- I think this song does it. Did I mention how great Wendy and Lisa sound on this song? I didn't? Well, they do! No question, the song is helped immensely by their presence. They make such a wonderful musical foil to Prince... vocally, arrangement-wise, their playing and tone... please oh please keep working together. Not to overgeneralize because on their own since "the split" both Prince and Wendy and Lisa have made some wonderful music, but I find Prince's music to miss the depth W&L brought while W&L miss Prince's sheer daring and ballsiness. This song finds them balancing each other out very well. Love the lead guitar line with the Leslie cabinet effect. The organ stab on the "2" is reminiscent of this track's antecedent "Teacher, Teacher," another great track. The melody doesn't move a lot but I don't think it needs to. Lots of great melodies are somewhat static; most of "When Doves Cry" consists of two notes for example. I think the lyric and melody of "I like pretty things and you're just as pretty as you can be" is the best part of the song -- great line and hook there. Guitar solo is cool too. I dig this one. brink

Classic Prince mid tempo rocker...I love this song immensely!!! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

"Every nickel in this club lookin' for a dime."
I'd rather not count the number of commercial misses that would scatter in the face of such melodic ease. Yes, apparently, Prince can still do popular music. Listen to that bridge on "A Million Days" that serves absolutely no bloody purpose outside of forming another awkward link. This is the way it flows when it all fits, not just parts. Melts in your mouth, not in your hand. And, yes, that's me on the floor trying to string together another dime out of this here nickel. You'll be screaming the chorus in concert, even if you don't want to. -- [Edited 7/21/07 13:48pm]

There are such great melodies in this one. For example that line you posted "Every nickel in this club lookin' for a dime / nothing less, nothing more".
This one should be so great live, with heavy drums and the slap bass to the fore. And then you know he's gonna rock the six-string.

I'm sorta dissappointed in how i'm feeling about this one now. I thought it was fun and lively and full of energy the first time I heard it but the more I listen to it it seems like its sorta losing energy for me. The other tracks continue go grow on me except All the Midnights (So far anyhow). The one U wanna C though seems to be fading on me a bit. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

A quick review ---
I heard this track tonight on a CD and not a 96k and I was impressed with the production and melody more than what I had heard previously on the aforementioned low-bit track. It's not classic Prince, and I do not mean for you rookies 84-88 or 80-88, but that it's not one of his 40 or so greatest cuts. The use of the word 'hater' like it or not, dates the track and in ten years it will stick out like sore thumb, but overall a good pop song albeit one that is a bit fluffy. As I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man is a close comparison melodically -- it isn't lyrically nor adventurously -- I would love to see if he could transform this song live into something as rolicking as those of us that were lucky enough to see him on the SOTT perform If I Could Never Take The Place of Your Mine or Play In The Sunshine were treated to. Even if not live, those who have seen the concert film know how much better the live cuts on guitar of the aforementioned are as well as The Cross; and imagine what he could do with this song if he really stretched it out live. As I've said before, even if he has slagged off in the studio, he's only gotten better live as the years have gone and that is not something I would have thought possible when I saw him first in '86 and through '95. [Edited 7/22/07 3:26am] No hard feelings.
