This is like a 1986 version of Scandalous or Insatiable IMO. I like it. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

I'm listening to it now for the 2nd time and I love it! It sounds like an old school, jazzy quiet storm number you hear on the radio, on those hot summer nights. The wonderful muted horns and trumpets with provoking lyrics are on point here and you can't complain about that! I think it has the potential to become one of Prince's inspired ballads, wouldn't u agree? Check me out and add me on:

Has any1 compared it to Avalanche yet? They seem to merge together in my head.

This is the one track on the album that I've reassessed after living with it for the last week. I really, really like this song. I always liked the arrangement, but the song itself has grown on me from a "shrug" to a "that's nice." I think I posted before how "Adore" was the same way with me. Neither song has what I'd call a "catchy" melody, but they each have -- in their own separate ways -- a melodic authenticity about them.
The emotion is there on this one and it's a better vocal performance than I gave him credit for. Such a beautifully understated track too (a welcome change from recent trends). Very well done.

It definitely has an ONA Piano feeling to it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Time for another listen. Can't get it outta my head. Love all the emotional energy.... and I like it I like it

awesome vocals. the vocals remind me of International Lover, but more mature and deeper tone. they also remind me of Smokey Robinson, later in his career, say "Being With You" type.

The more I hear it the more I like it. I think i'm in love with the piano and horns on this track. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Okay, for any piano players out there, this is strictly a technical question.
At precisely 3:35 on the song "Somewhere Here On Earth" there is a upwards piano run. It sounds really fast, but simplistic in the fact that it follows a scale-based pattern. My burning question is: Is this little tiny run played with one hand or two hands? I can easily pick out notes on piano parts like that, but I always wonder exactly how it is played. I also have some Thelonius Monk sheet music with some terrific runs like that. I learned them using two hands, but recently saw a Thelonius video where he does those runs amazingly with ONE HAND! So, can anyone letigimately answer this question for this particular piano run at 3:35 on Somewhere Here On Earth????? Thanks!

definitely the best on the album, like someone earlier said, it will the PE's classic tune in the future.
unfortunately i find the entire album only so-so. 5 good songs, 5 bad songs. that's hardly a godsend. new to funk, naive in every way

I just love the instrumentation on this track. I don't think i've heard such sweet horns in awhile. I mean they are tight!! I love hornwork on P's albums though so I always appreciate it but I REALLY appreciate these. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Still, whether it's actually played by one or two hands in this particular case, is very hard to tell.

Does the "muffled" sound of the record player on this tune bother anyone else? He is exactly who we thought he was
