Heres My Review from the other thread:

Planet Earth = Empty Room:
Big Rock opener. Starts off very intimate with just princes voice and piano, then in come the drums. Than for the chorus its even bigger with a stadium rock style chorus. The breakdown is ultra catchy, especially with the keys. 9/10

Guitar = I Like It There / Cream:
Good single material. Has a really good guitar solo that EVRERYONE will end up Air Guitaring. 8/10

Somewhere Here On Earth = One Kiss At a Time / I Love U But I Dont Trust U Anymore:
Very Jazzy. You can imaging Prince at a piano in some french resturant playing this song. Brilliant piano solo by Renato. 9/10

The One U Wanna C = Cinamon Girl :
Pop-Rock. Really Catchy song that will most likely be a single. The slap bass strangely suits the song (I wernt sure at first). Nice bursts of guitar here and there aswell. 8/10

Future baby Mama = (Melody) Eye Hate U :
"I like that umm, Future Baby Mama.." (That really should of been included at the beggining of the song lol) Second best on the album. You wont get the verse out of your head for weeks. Very nice melody and the breakdown works well although could of been more powerfull. 10/10

Mr Goodnight = Push It Up! :
FBM's Cousin. Finnaly prince raps again! (Sort Of). Seeing as im a big NPS fan, i enjoyed this song, but alot of people might not might not. Picture Prince and rosie gaines doing the chorus whilst Tony M does the verses whilst the npg play in the background around 1992 (Gangsta Glam video would suit this song perfectly). 9/10

All The Midnights = Resolution :
This is a short, fun album filler type of song. Although its still good, but its too short to take seriously. When you start to get into it it goes off. 7/10

Chelsea Rogers = In Love :
Best Prince song in years! This is so funky! Shelby also is a nice addition. The whole song is perfect, Insanely catchy melody, funky dtums and keys with more slap bass thrown in on top. Best on the album. 10/10

Lion Of Judah = Wherever You Go :
I think W&L are on the last two tracks of this album. Starts off like Purple Rain with the guitar chords and bass drum combo. Religious undertones are in there somewhere, but its still a good song. 7/10

Resolution = So Far So Pleased:
Cheesy Christian rock. But the songs so catchy and upbeat that you end up humming and singing along. But its another song that too short. 8/10

All in all, the albums better than 3121. It rounds up the trio of albums nicely:

Musicology : 8/10
3121 : 9/10
Planet Earth : 9.5/10

I love 3121 but PE just slightly wins becuase of Chelsea Rogers and FBM.

I don't have the official CD since it comes out on the 24th here in the U.S. but I will say that Planet Earth is a good CD. It's not the best but it sure as hell isn't the worst. I LOVE The One U Wanna C, Planet Earth and Chelsea Rogers and I really enjoy Somewhere Here On Earth. I think this is a CD that needs to be heard in CD quality and from what I've read, it's making a big difference, good and bad. I'm looking forward to the 24th!

i really can't see how so many of the uk people who got it today
are complaining so heavily about it. some people even post stuff
like "i feel ripped off for 1.40 pounds"

rolleyes

how is this record any worse than Musicology or 3121? by now we
all know we don't have to expect something phenomenal.

i've been expecting an album along the lines of musicology/3121
and kind of figured i would be able to make myself one cool cd,
combining tracks from all 3 albums.

to my surprise though, Planet Earth is actually different and a
bit more off center than the previous two. it's lighter and the
songs are less predictable.

sure, it's no classic, but it's not rubbish either. there's one
or two songs on there for everyone. plus most of it grows quite
quickly on you. i'm very pleased with it.

Most of this album doesn't sound like Prince at all. If he wasn't singing you would think you were listening to someone else!

He's a genius that after all his albums he can still come up with a new sound.

It's wierd but on first listen I wasn't sure about some tracks as they were so different, but on 2nd and 3rd plays I absolutely love them!!! razz
This baby's gonna be on repeat!!

I guess it takes a couple of plays to get used to a new sound.
I agree with an above post that the last 2 tracks could be on a christian worship cd. Perhaps his next controversial step is to move into the christian music scene, imagine that...

June7 i dont want to sound suspicious and am not attacking the org here, but i find it a bit strange that there seem no seperate posts about Planet Earth possible.

In the last weeks i have seen several of those threads been closed, and it seems discussing the album is 'just' possible in controlled threads.

I have never seen that happen before, not with Musicology, not with 3121.

Maybe you dont want to answer this question: but could it be the case that you have been 'asked' by Princes management to 'control' the discussion on Planet Earth, because they want to avoid leaked material?

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but if you pop the 'Planet Earth' cd into a PC and look at the track titles, the last track is called 'Revelation', not 'Resolution'. Song takes on a wholly different meaning if you substitute the word.

Also I noticed that if you open the cd on a PC, noted above the music files, it says 'A long time ago'.

Not sure if this is deliberate or a mistake but interesting nevertheless?

NME said on their firts impressions of the album:

[...] Smattered with a swaggering guitar riff which borrows heavily from U2's "I Will follow" [...]

lol

why does one automatically become a fam when they don't join in
on the hatefest that ensues with every single fucking release??

half the people seem to only post comments about how much they
hate stuff just to get on other people's tits and provoke some
kind of attack.

that's cool though, it's a free board and people can say and do
whatever they like.

it's just rather dull and uninspired to call someone a fam or
some other spitefull stuff like 'ignorant', 'no taste' or even
'sheep'.

if you don't like something then you don't, ok i get it. but if
i like it i have just as much right to say so, this is after all
a prince fansite.

geez.

oh ps, i know you're only having a laugh dan, so it's not really
directed at you -but you know that. it's just that i had to get
that off my chest since i've been reading those kind of flames
all over the place here today. it's really nasty shit lately and
it's so uncalled for.

I love Planet Earth. I don't care that Prince didn't event a new polka-Rock-yiddish genre of music out of it or whatever. It's still a sweet album and his most melodic in years. shrug

Prince is in a tough spot at this point in his career. Any time he creates something good, fans will inevitably dismiss it as garbage because of this stubborn insistence that he always could've done just a little better.

I'm sure I'll like the new album. I still enjoy 3121 quite a bit, and I love Guitar.
